NSW Goes Full Nanny State: Free Snot Shots for the Kiddos!
Because apparently, parents can't handle a little poke anymore? Buckle up, taxpayers.

Alright, listen up, snowflakes. NSW is now handing out free nasal spray flu vaccines to the ankle-biters. Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia already jumped on the bandwagon. We're talking about a government-funded snot shower for every kid aged two to four. In SA and WA, it's extended even further. What a time to be alive!
Apparently, the idea is that a needle is just too much for the poor little darlings (and their helicopter parents). NSW Health Minister Ryan Park, bless his heart, actually said, "I know how unsettling it can be for some parents taking a child to receive a vaccine, so being able to offer a needle-free alternative is a real win for those parents." A real win? Seriously? Are we raising a generation of wimps?
Of course, this is all about "vaccination rates" which are, gasp, down from 2020. The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance – yeah, I had to Google it too – says that only 25.7% of kids under five had the jab by September 2025, compared to 44.6% in the good old days of lockdowns and fear. In NSW, it was even worse: less than a quarter. Panic!
So, what's the solution? More free stuff! Never mind that over 24,500 kids under five in NSW got the flu last year. Never mind that emergency rooms saw over 4,600 of them, with nearly a thousand getting admitted to the hospital. Clearly, the answer is to spray snot up their noses, courtesy of the taxpayer.
If you're not lucky enough to live in one of these enlightened states, or your kid is too old or too young, you're stuck paying $50 to $70 for the privilege. But hey, at least you still have some semblance of freedom, right?
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Victoria – because apparently Victoria wants in on the free stuff too – is whining about expanding access. They want more free snot! And less burden on the hospitals! Because personal responsibility is for suckers.
Look, I'm not saying vaccines are evil. But the level of coddling and government intervention is getting out of control. Are we raising a nation of sheep who can't handle a little discomfort? Get a grip, people. And maybe, just maybe, teach your kids a little resilience. Or don't. The government will take care of them anyway... with your money.
