NOLA's 'Lights On' Initiative: Is It Just More Swamp Gas?
City spends millions on 'lights' while dodging real problems; expect a bigger bill and zero actual change, fam.

Alright, alright, alright. So NOLA's dropping almost three mil on this 'Lights On' initiative, right? They wanna fix the streetlights in the 'underserved' (read: Black) neighborhoods. Sure, sounds great. But let's be real, is this actually gonna stop the carjackings and the voodoo economics, or is it just another virtue-signaling tax-funded boondoggle?
Remember Ralph Waldo Emerson? Dude said gaslights were the best nocturnal police. Now, the libs are all clutchin' their pearls thinkin' that means oppression via illumination. But the real oppression is when your tax dollars get funneled into some program that's gonna line the pockets of some contractor buddy of the mayor's and do jack squat for the people actually living there. This whole project is just a distraction from the real issues: crime, corruption, and a city government that's about as effective as a screen door on a submarine.
Legal scholar Angela Allen-Bell says these 'lighting schemes' can 'reproduce inequalities.' Okay, genius. How about the inequality of your tax dollars disappearing into the black hole of city government? How about the inequality of some neighborhoods getting policed while others are left to fend for themselves? It's always 'inequality' this, 'inequality' that. Maybe how about work ethic instead of the constant whining?
They're puttin' in fancy LED lights and solar sensors. Oh, how progressive! Meanwhile, the pothole situation is so bad you could lose a small car in 'em. And those solar sensors? Betcha they'll be broken or stolen within a week. This whole thing screams 'photo op' for Mayor Moreno, not actual help for the people who live there.
Dawn Herbert says she feels a bit safer. Cool. Claudia Celestine says she doesn't see a difference. Sounds about right. The woke libs are gonna be all about this, but the people actually living in the area who need it are gonna be left to figure it out. No surprise there, the libs are gonna tell everyone that they did something, whether or not they actually solved the problems.
They hired their 'own electricians' to make repairs faster. Translation: more union jobs, more bloated payroll, less actual work getting done. Probably get some woke idiot in there that doesn't even know how to screw in a lightbulb. It's all part of the great replacement of competent people by woke idiots.
So, yeah, NOLA's 'Lights On' initiative. Sounds great on paper. In reality? Probably just more swamp gas being pumped into the system. Don't hold your breath for actual change. Invest in some good home security instead.
