Turns out, surprise surprise, reality is a bit more complicated than a CNN talking point. Locals in Caracas are reporting that, yeah, things still kinda suck. Who could have predicted that decades of socialist mismanagement would leave a mark?

The geniuses in Washington figured, “Hey, oil = money, right? Just turn the valve, and prosperity will flow!” They probably had some PowerPoint presentation with arrows pointing upwards and everything. Never mind the decades of corruption, cronyism, and economic idiocy that turned a once-wealthy nation into a dumpster fire.

So, what's the solution? Probably something boring and practical, like actually understanding the local culture, promoting free markets, and getting government out of the way. But hey, that's just crazy talk, right? Much easier to just blame everything on “evil dictators” and call it a day.
