Lord Mandelson's Swamp Thing Appointment: Another Day, Another Grift
Starmer's 'normal procedures' claim about Mandelson's ambassadorship? Yeah, right. Sounds about as believable as Hillary's emails.

So, Keir Starmer, bless his perpetually confused heart, claims “normal procedures” were followed in appointing Lord Mandelson – the very definition of a swamp creature – as US ambassador. Right. And I'm dating Taylor Swift. This whole thing smells fishier than a seafood market in Chernobyl.
The Tories, predictably, are making a fuss. They're demanding a privileges committee investigation. Honestly, it's like watching two toddlers fight over a moldy pacifier. Both sides are so deeply embedded in the establishment, it's almost comical. But hey, at least someone's pretending to care about the optics of this blatant cronyism.
Remember when Boris Johnson got the privileges committee treatment for allegedly misleading Parliament about Partygate? Turns out, rules for thee, but not for me. Now, Starmer's playing the same game, acting all innocent while his buddies get cushy gigs. It’s the Circle of Uniparty Corruption, and it moves us all.
Emily Thornberry, bless her heart, is "leading" the foreign affairs committee inquiry. Because THAT'S going to be a bastion of impartiality. It's like putting a fox in charge of the henhouse, except the fox is wearing a Labour rosette and sipping chardonnay.
Olly Robbins got canned for not telling No. 10 that Mandelson initially failed security vetting. Imagine that. Lord Mandelson, failed security vetting. Probably because he owns stock in every defense contractor from here to Dagobah.
Morgan McSweeney, Starmer's former chief of staff, is the guy who probably pushed for this. Of course. Birds of a feather, corrupt the system together.
The whole thing is a farce. The Tories are grandstanding, Labour's deflecting, and the public is left wondering if anyone in Westminster has an ounce of integrity. Spoiler alert: they don't.
Speaker Lindsay Hoyle gets to decide whether to allow a vote. Place your bets now on whether he'll do the right thing (narrator: he won't). Labour will probably whip its MPs to vote against the investigation. Because transparency is only for the peasants.
Emma Reynolds calls it “silly political games.” Yes, Emma, it IS silly. It’s also indicative of the rot at the core of our political system. But hey, at least the peasants can eat cake while they ignore what's happening, right?
