Dying Kid, Detained Parents: Thanks, Brandon!
Kid's got the Big C, parents pulled a border dash – but hey, at least we're 'building back better,' right?

CHICAGO – So, get this: a dude named Kevin Gonzalez, 18 years old, is kicking the bucket with Stage 4 colon cancer. His last wish? To see his mom and dad. Heartwarming, right? Except there's a catch. Mom and Dad are currently chilling in an Arizona ICE detention center. Why? Because they decided the southern border was more of a suggestion than a firm boundary. Remember when that was considered an actual thing?
Turns out, these aren't their first rodeo 'round the deportation block. Seems they've been given the old heave-ho multiple times before. But hey, what's a little thing like federal law when your kid is, you know, dying? So, naturally, they hopped the fence again, only to get promptly snagged by our oh-so-vigilant border patrol (who I'm sure are thrilled to be dealing with this on top of everything else).
Now, I'm not saying I don't feel for the kid. Cancer sucks. Dying young sucks even more. But let's not pretend this is some kind of unprecedented tragedy caused solely by the Orange Man's ghost. These parents repeatedly broke the law. They knew the risks. They chose to ignore them. And now everyone's supposed to clutch their pearls and demand humanitarian exceptions?
Where's the personal responsibility, people? Where's the respect for the rule of law? Oh right, we traded that for virtue signaling and woke points a long time ago. Now we're stuck with a system that rewards lawlessness and punishes those who actually try to do things the right way. But hey, Brandon told us the border was secure.
And let's be honest, the timing is impeccable. Just when everyone's starting to forget about the whole border crisis (thanks, Ukraine!), BAM! A heart-wrenching story about a dying kid and his detained parents pops up to tug at our heartstrings. Coincidence? I think not. The left has been weaponizing feels for decades.
So, what's the solution? I don't know. Maybe the judge can pull a rabbit out of his hat. Maybe the parents can claim asylum based on the horrors of Mexican healthcare. Maybe Kevin can just hold on long enough for his folks to break out and make a run for it. The only thing that is clear is the current situation is unsustainable.
At the end of the day, this is a gut-wrenching story with no easy answers. The system failed this family. The incentives are all wrong, and the consequences are devastating. But hey, at least we're building back better, right? Thanks, Brandon! You're really knocking it out of the park.
