DC's 'Sovereign Nation' Fantasy Gets Reality Check Thanks to National Guard Lawsuit
Oversight Project slaps down woke DC's attempt to sue the feds, reminding them who's boss.

Oh, the irony. Turns out, DC thinks it's a real, independent nation, not just a swampy collection of bureaucrats leeching off the rest of us. Their little lawsuit whining about Trump's National Guard deployment is getting smacked down by the Oversight Project, who are basically saying, "LOL, you can't sue yourself, you're literally part of the government you're suing!" facepalm
DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb (probably a pronoun enthusiast) thought he could flex on Trump for daring to make the city "safe and beautiful" (the horror!). He claimed the deployment violated DC's 'self-government powers.' Newsflash: DC's 'self-government' is a permission slip from Uncle Sam, not some God-given right. They exist at our pleasure, not the other way around.
The Oversight Project is dropping truth bombs, reminding everyone that a municipal corporation (aka, DC) can't sue its sovereign creator (aka, the United States). It's Law 101, but apparently, DC skipped that class to attend a gender studies seminar.
Remember when Trump sent in the National Guard to deal with the Antifa/BLM riots? The same people complaining about 'fascism' were suddenly crying about federal overreach. You can't have it both ways, snowflakes. If your city can't handle basic law and order, the feds have every right to step in.
Sam Dewey from the Oversight Project put it perfectly: DC should be talking to Congress and the President, not wasting taxpayer money on frivolous lawsuits. But hey, what else are they gonna do? Actually fix the crime problem? Nah, much easier to virtue signal and play victim.
The whole thing is peak DC. They want all the benefits of being the nation's capital (federal funding, prestige, etc.) but none of the responsibilities. They want to pretend they're some kind of independent republic, free from the tyranny of… well, the government that created them. You can't make this stuff up.
Two Trump-appointed judges already hinted that DC's case is DOA, which should tell you everything you need to know. The swamp creatures thought they could outsmart Trump, but they just walked into a legal buzzsaw. Sad!
The best part? This case could set a precedent. If the Oversight Project wins, it'll be a huge blow to DC's inflated sense of self-importance. Maybe they'll finally realize they're not a sovereign nation, just a government town run by unelected bureaucrats.
This is what happens when you let woke ideology infect the legal system. Common sense goes out the window, and you end up with absurd situations like DC trying to sue itself. Thankfully, there are still some sane people out there fighting back. God bless the Oversight Project.
So, let this be a lesson to all the other blue cities out there: you're not as special as you think you are. The federal government has the power, and they're not afraid to use it. Get wrecked, DC.
