Commie Cue Ball: China's Snooker Champ a Red-Blooded Winner (Maybe)
Wu Yize, China's latest snooker sensation, gets the hero treatment, but can we trust a sport dominated by the CCP?

Xi'an, China - Okay, so China's got another snooker champ, Wu Yize. Big deal. Crowds cheering, flags waving – sounds like another day in the glorious People's Republic. They’re acting like he single-handedly solved the supply chain crisis. But let's be real, folks, it's snooker. Not exactly storming Normandy.
This Wu kid, apparently he's the second-youngest ever to win the World Snooker Championship. Dropped out of school at 16, moved to Sheffield. Good for him. Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, even if those bootstraps were made in a Chinese factory. I still prefer the 14 year old chess player from Poland anyday though.
The BBC, bless their hearts, asked him how he felt about the crowds. "It's great to feel the warmth of my homeland," he says. Of course he did. What else is he gonna say? “Xi Jinping is a tyrannical overlord”? Don't hold your breath. This is a carefully curated narrative.
Sixty million Chinese play billiards, we're told. 300,000 pool halls. Sounds like the perfect breeding ground for future snooker commandos. I mean, athletes. Seriously though, where's the line between sporting achievement and state-sponsored propaganda?
An eight-year-old wants to be like Wu Yize. Cute. But is he being taught to worship the state while he's lining up his shots? We need to ask the tough questions. Is this just a distraction from their human rights abuses? Probably.
And the rags-to-riches story? Sharing a bed with his dad, no windows in the flat? Conveniently glossing over the systemic poverty that's still prevalent in parts of China. They love pushing the 'overcame adversity' angle, but the adversity is usually caused by… well, you know.
He wants to buy his parents a place in England? See, they always come to the West. They want the 'freedom'. Maybe he can buy them a ticket to a Trump rally while he's at it. That’d show the CCP.
So, yeah, Wu Yize is a snooker champion. Congrats. But don't get too caught up in the hype. Remember who's pulling the strings behind the curtain. It’s always the CCP. And they're probably laughing at us while we're obsessing over a game with colored balls.
