ZAPATERO-GATE: Socialist Gets the Spicy Cough of Corruption
Turns out even *former* commies can't resist a little influence peddling, LOL.
So, Zapatero, the guy who ran Spain like a lemonade stand into the ground from 2004 to 2011, is now getting the side-eye for some alleged influence peddling. Shocked? You shouldn't be. These politicians, regardless of stripe, are like moths to a flame of sweet, sweet graft. And he denies it? Of course he does. That's, like, step one in the politician's handbook: "Deny Everything, Even When Caught Red-Handed Eating the Evidence".
Influence peddling? It's basically the politician's version of an OnlyFans. They use their past clout – the clout WE gave them, mind you – to rake in the dough after their 'service' is over. 'Service' being a highly subjective term, in this case, synonymous with “making things worse”.
Remember when this guy was in charge? Good times, good times. NOT. The Spanish economy did a nosedive steeper than my IQ after watching a TikTok for 20 minutes. And now we find out maybe he was feathering his own nest while the country burned? Peak clown world.
This is just another reminder that the political class is largely detached from reality. They live in a bubble of their own making, insulated from the consequences of their actions. It's 'heads they win, tails we lose' – always.
And the lefties will try to spin this, of course. They'll say it's just a 'witch hunt' or 'right-wing smear campaign.' As if corruption is a purely right-wing phenomenon! Please. Corruption is bipartisan. It's the only thing both sides truly agree on.
What's next? Will he blame Trump? Say the investigation is “Russian disinformation”? The playbook is getting awfully stale.
Here’s a thought experiment: imagine politicians were paid in dogecoin that halved in value every time they lied or took bribes. Would this problem STILL be happening?
The real takeaway here is that we need to stop blindly trusting these people. They are not our saviors. They are, at best, glorified bureaucrats with a talent for self-promotion and a penchant for other people's money.
So, crack open a cold one, raise a glass to Zapatero's alleged shenanigans, and remember: politicians gonna politic. It's up to us to hold them accountable… although, let's be honest, that rarely happens. Still. Something to think about.
Maybe this will finally get his Wikipedia edited to be objective. I will be waiting for the update!
Meanwhile, I'm going to go invest in a popcorn company. Because this is going to be a show.
Tick tock.
