Woke Court Orders Fortescue to Pay $150M to People Who Didn't 'Consent' to Iron Ore
Get ready for peak virtue signaling! Australia's virtue-signaling courts force miner to cough up cash for 'cultural damage.'

PERTH, Australia – Hold on to your wallets, folks, because the clown world just reached a new level. Some kangaroo court down under just told Fortescue to hand over $150 million to the Yindjibarndi Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation (YNAC) because... wait for it... the Solomon Hub iron ore mine supposedly hurt their feelings. Seems extracting valuable resources without asking for permission from the local land spirits is now a crime worthy of a hefty payout.
Let's get this straight: Fortescue, a company that's actually doing something productive by pulling iron ore out of the ground, has to pay a fortune because some folks claim their 'culture' was damaged. Never mind the fact that this mine has generated an estimated $80 billion in revenue since 2013. Or that it provides jobs and resources that benefit all of Australia. Apparently, none of that matters when you're dealing with the woke mob and their grievance-fueled agenda.
The Yindjibarndi originally wanted $1.8 BILLION, which is just insane. They claimed all sorts of damages, from cultural destruction to social disharmony. Fortescue tried to keep it reasonable, suggesting $8 million, while the government thought $5-10 million would suffice. But the court, in its infinite wisdom, settled on $150 million. Because feelings.
Justice Stephen Burley, who probably wears a “Coexist” bumper sticker, said the Yindjibarndi suffered 'tangible and intangible losses.' Intangible losses? So, like, a bad vibe? Apparently, some elders told him their 'Nurra, soul and spirit [were] destroyed.' Seriously? If your soul can be destroyed by an iron ore mine, maybe you need a stronger soul.
This whole thing is a joke. It's virtue signaling on steroids. It's designed to make everyone feel guilty about progress and prosperity. It's a thinly veiled attack on capitalism and Western civilization. Oh and let's not forget that this mine was approved under 'government processes.' So the government approved it, but now the government-funded courts are penalizing the company. Makes perfect sense... if you live in Bizarro World.
What's next? Are we going to start paying reparations to trees for cutting them down to build houses? Will we need to get consent from squirrels before we harvest nuts? This insanity has to stop. These virtue signaling politicians and judges are incentivizing every activist group in the country to now start claiming that they are being harmed because a building or a company exists near them.
