Utah Says 'Nah' to Trump's Homeless Housing: Another Woke Fail?
Salt Lake City throws shade at the idea of a homeless campus, but the libs still wanna play SimCity with people's lives.
Alright, so Utah's being all 'nuanced' and rejected the Trumptastic plan to herd 1,300 homeless folks into a designated 'homeless zone' outside Salt Lake City. Inspired by the Orange Man himself, this was supposed to be the MAGA answer to the endless parade of tent cities plaguing our once-great nation. But apparently, even in relatively sane Utah, the vibes weren't right. Now the suits are scrambling to keep the 'spirit' alive. We'll see how that goes.
Remember when Trump was talking about rounding up the homeless and putting them in camps? Good times. The left predictably lost their minds, screeching about human rights and whatnot. But honestly, how much 'rights' do you have when you're crapping in the street and shooting up fentanyl? It's a legit question.
This Utah plan was the toned-down, 'compassionate conservative' version: a campus with services, a controlled environment, the whole nine yards. But even that was too spicy for the local snowflakes. Guess they'd rather keep virtue signaling while property values plummet and tourist dollars dry up.
The irony is thick enough to cut with a knife. The same people who scream about affordable housing are the ones blocking every new development in their backyard. The same ones who whine about mental health funding are the ones defunding the police who have to deal with these folks on the daily. It's all performative wokeness, folks. Zero substance.
So, what's the solution? I dunno, maybe stop coddling the addicts and start enforcing some basic standards of civilization? Maybe stop handing out free needles and start offering actual, effective treatment? Maybe stop enabling this nonsense and start holding people accountable for their choices? Just spitballin' here.
We can't build our way out of this problem. It's a societal rot, fueled by bad policy, broken families, and a culture of entitlement. Until we address those root causes, we're just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. And by 'we,' I mean 'you.' I'll be sipping my latte in my gated community, thanks.
The fact that these clowns are trying to keep the 'spirit' alive means they haven't learned a damn thing. They'll just come up with some equally dumb, equally ineffective 'solution' that costs taxpayers a fortune and accomplishes nothing. Rinse and repeat.
Bottom line: homelessness is a symptom of a much deeper problem. And until we're willing to face that problem head-on, we're just wasting time and money. But hey, at least the consultants are getting paid. And the virtue signalers get to feel good about themselves. So, win-win, right? (Wrong.)
