Trump Plays 4D Chess with Taiwan, Libs Seethe
Congressionally-approved arms sale to Taiwan mysteriously stalls as Daddy Trump preps for a pow-wow with Xi Jinping – is this peak galaxy brain?
Okay, so the libs are hyperventilating (again). Apparently, the State Department is dragging its feet on that multi-billion dollar arms package to Taiwan. You know, the one Congress already signed off on. And guess what? It's happening right before Trump heads to Beijing for a little chinwag with President Xi. Coincidence? I think NOT.
This is either the dumbest thing ever, or galaxy-brain level 4D chess. Let's be real: Taiwan is basically the 'hold my beer' meme of geopolitics. China claims it, we pretend we don't take sides (but totally do), and everyone walks on eggshells. Sending a bunch of shiny new toys to Taiwan right before a summit with Xi? That's like showing up to a peace talk with a flamethrower. Subtlety? Never heard of her.
So, what's the play here? My theory: Trump's softening the ground for some SERIOUS negotiating. You don't go into a high-stakes poker game showing your best hand. You bluff. You make the other guy think you're about to go all-in, then you pull back and demand concessions. Maybe he's trying to extract better trade deals. Maybe he's trying to get China to actually do something about North Korea (lol, good luck with that). Who knows? But one thing's for sure: this ain't your grandpa's foreign policy.
The pearl-clutching from the usual suspects is hilarious. “Oh noes, he's abandoning our ally!” “Oh noes, he's emboldening China!” Newsflash: countries don't have 'friends', they have interests. And Trump's interest is making America great again, even if that means playing a little hardball with our frenemies. Besides, Taiwan has been selling us out for decades with their cheap goods, what do they expect?
Of course, there's always the chance that this is just a giant screw-up. The Deep State is still real, folks, and maybe they're trying to sabotage Trump's efforts. Or maybe someone just forgot to file the paperwork. It wouldn't be the first time. But I prefer to believe that there's a method to the madness. That Trump knows exactly what he's doing, even if we normies can't comprehend it. Because if not, we are truly and utterly doomed.
Either way, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. This is gonna be a wild ride.
