Taiwan's Chip Boom: Great for the Elites, So-So for the Normies
Taiwan prints money making AI chips, but is anyone outside TSMC actually getting richer? Asking for a friend.

Okay, so Taiwan's economy is supposedly booming thanks to the AI chip frenzy. Big deal. TSMC is raking in billions, and the talking heads on TV are telling us how great everything is. But let's get real: is this 'prosperity' actually trickling down, or is it just another case of the rich getting richer while the average Taiwanese Joe is stuck paying exorbitant rent for a tiny apartment?
We're told that this AI chip boom is going to lift all boats, but I'm seeing a lot of life rafts and not many yachts for the average citizen. Yeah, the GDP is up, but what about the GPI (Genuine Progress Indicator)? Nobody talks about that, do they?
It's the same old story: the tech bros and venture capitalists are living large, while the working class is struggling to keep up with inflation. The government's probably too busy lining their pockets to do anything about it anyway.
And let's be honest, this whole AI thing is probably just a bubble waiting to burst. Remember the dot-com boom? Everyone thought the internet was going to solve all our problems, and then BAM! Bust. Same thing's gonna happen with AI, mark my words.
They'll say, 'Oh, but this time it's different!' No, it's not. It's the same greed, the same hype, and the same inevitable crash. And who's going to get screwed when it all comes crashing down? The same people who always do: the little guy.
So, yeah, Taiwan's economy is booming. Congratulations. Now, how about we actually address the fact that a huge chunk of the population is getting left behind? Or are we just going to keep pretending that everything's sunshine and rainbows?
I'm not buying it. And neither should you. Do your own research. Question everything. And don't let the elites gaslight you into thinking that everything's fine when it's clearly not. This ain't your grandpa's Taiwan anymore. Unless your grandpa was a tech CEO, in which case, carry on.
But hey, at least the rich people are happy. That's what really matters, right? eye roll I guess we'll just keep grinding it out, hoping that maybe, just maybe, some of that sweet, sweet AI chip money will eventually trickle down to us. But I'm not holding my breath.
Maybe it's time to invest in real estate in Montana. Or gold. Or canned goods. Just sayin'. The apocalypse might be closer than we think. Or maybe it's already here, and we're just too distracted by the shiny objects to notice.
In the meantime, I'll be over here, rage-tweeting and waiting for the revolution. Or at least a decent meme to distract me from the impending doom. #Taiwan #AI #ChipBoom #Inequality #TheRichGetRicher #EatTheRich (metaphorically, of course... mostly.)
Don't even get me started on ESG. Woke capitalism is coming for us all!
