South Africa Sends in the Troops: Is This How Liberty Dies? (With Thunderous Applause?)
Ramaphosa calls in the boys to clean up the mess, because apparently police work is now 'problematic' or something.

So, South Africa's at it again. President Cyril Ramaphosa, bless his heart, has decided the only way to deal with gang-infested townships is to unleash the military. Because what could possibly go wrong?
Apparently, crime's gotten so bad in three provinces that even the local cops are throwing their hands up like, "We're out! YOLO!" Gangs are running wild, drugs are flowing like the tears of a thousand soy boys, and the only solution our fearless leader can come up with is… more guns. Classic.
Critics are clutching their pearls, naturally. Something about "militarization of law enforcement" and "potential for human rights abuses.” As if these guys haven't been paying attention for the last decade. I am sure the police force is woke enough to have the right pronouns displayed on their body armor before they get blasted by an AK-47.
Remember apartheid? Yeah, good times. Now we're using the army on our own citizens, and people are surprised? Newsflash: government power always expands. It's like a Democrat spending bill – once it starts, it never stops.
Experts (the ones who are always wrong, BTW) are bleating about “socio-economic factors.” Poverty, unemployment, lack of education, blah blah blah. Look, I get it. People are poor, so they steal stuff. But at some point, you gotta draw the line. Property rights matter, even if you're living in a shack.
Alternative solutions? Community policing? Social programs? Oh, you mean throwing more money at problems that money can't fix? Color me shocked. Maybe these communities need a good dose of personal responsibility, not another government handout.
Previous military deployments worked so well, right? No innocent bystanders getting accidentally fragged? No resentment towards the state? Definitely no cover-ups of police brutality? I can't believe it is happening again.
Ramaphosa's basically saying, “We're not messing around anymore.” Which is good, in theory. But let's be real, this is probably just a temporary fix to appease the masses. The real problem is a lack of law and order, and that starts with a culture of accountability.
The military will support the police. It's like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound. You might temporarily stop the bleeding, but the underlying problem is still there. We are only treating the symptom, not the disease.
This is South Africa, where the government is so woke they are sleepwalking into a Third World country. This is the kind of stuff that makes people leave the country. The only question is: where will they go?
This will probably set a precedent for future interventions, but hey, at least we can virtue signal about how much we care about the poor while simultaneously unleashing the military on them. The hypocrisy is truly breathtaking.
In conclusion, Ramaphosa is doing something. Is it the right thing? Probably not. But at least he is doing something. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't. But at least he can say he tried. It is a good start, at least.
