SEETHE AND COPE: Democrat Senator Admits Trump Was Right While Socialists Take Over NY
Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin panics on air, admitting 'old models are no longer working' and Chuck Schumer is standing on thin ice.

It’s official: the cope has reached critical levels. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) went on SiriusXM’s "Straight Shooter" with Stephen A. Smith and basically admitted what everyone else has known for years—the Democratic Party is a sinking ship. Slotkin confessed that the party has never actually recovered from getting absolutely wrecked in the 2024 elections, and she’s now calling for "significant new leadership" because their "old models" are completely busted.
Slotkin, who somehow managed to survive her own swing-state race while the rest of her party went down in flames, gave a surprisingly honest autopsy of the 2024 disaster. She admitted that Democrats tried to play pandering gymnastics to make every single fringe interest group happy, resulting in a giant mess where nobody knew what they actually stood for. Meanwhile, Donald Trump walked in with a simple, based message: "I’m going to make your life more affordable. I’m going to put more money in your pocket." He won because he focused on what actually mattered, leaving the left to drown in their own over-complicated policy word salads.
Now, Slotkin wants her party to get back to the absolute basics: the economy and education. She claims they need to show people they care about an economy where if you "work hard and play by the rules, you get ahead." It’s a nice sentiment, but it might be too little, too late, considering who is actually winning primaries in their party.
While Slotkin is begging for a return to normalcy, the literal socialist wing of her party is busy taking over. This week in New York, a bunch of democratic socialists and far-left progressives scored big wins in the Democratic primaries. These radicals were backed by Zohran Mamdani, a socialist running for NYC mayor. Instead of running away from these red-flag waving candidates, Slotkin actually praised Mamdani, calling him the "new generation" of leadership that young voters are craving. It seems the Democrats can't decide if they want to be normal or go full Bolshevik.
Establishment figureheads are doing their best to keep the peace, but nobody is buying it. DNC Chair Ken Martin has been trying to play therapist and ease internal party tensions since February 2025, but Slotkin basically laughed that off, saying they need a complete purge of top leadership in both the House and Senate to see any real change.
The knives are already out for the old guard, especially Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Back in March, reports leaked that a bunch of rebel Democratic senators tried to throw Schumer under the bus over his terrible handling of last year’s government shutdown. The establishment is sweating, and the real drama will unfold after the general election in November when Senate Democrats hold a secret ballot to choose their leader.
Republican Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) pointed out the obvious: the Democratic Party has been sliding further and further into far-left madness ever since Bernie Sanders ran in 2016. Lawler highlighted how Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed his opponent, showcasing the socialist agenda that has now become mainstream on the left. Lawler countered this radicalism by pointing to his own conservative wins, like tax cuts and border security.
Ultimately, the Democrats are caught in a hilarious doom-loop. They are stuck between a failed, out-of-touch establishment led by Chuck Schumer and a rising tide of literal socialists who want to spend the country into oblivion. As they head toward their secret leadership vote, the only thing that's clear is that the old guard is running out of time.
