SCOTUS Lets Death Row Dude Cry 'Racism' Over Jury Selection. Shocker.
Terry Pitchford, convicted in 2006, gets another bite at the apple thanks to woke nonsense about 'muh racial bias'.
WASHINGTON — So, the Supreme Court, bless their hearts, has decided to let Terry Pitchford, a dude rotting on death row since 2006 for murdering a shopkeeper, whine about the racial makeup of his jury. Turns out, only ONE Black guy was on the jury. Cue the outrage machine.
Pitchford, convicted by a jury of his peers (mostly), is now claiming that the jury wasn't woke enough, diverse enough, or whatever buzzword gets the libs going these days. Apparently, if your jury doesn't look like a Benetton ad, it's automatically racist.
The legal mumbo jumbo centers around the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments, which, according to the perpetually offended, guarantee a jury that perfectly reflects the racial demographics of the county. Never mind the facts of the case, the evidence, or the guilt of the defendant. It's all about feelings, folks.
This whole thing is based on Batson v. Kentucky, a case where the Supremes decided prosecutors can't just axe jurors based on skin color. Fine, whatever. But now every criminal with a pulse and a lawyer is using Batson to try and weasel their way out of justice.
Look, I'm not saying racism doesn't exist. It does. But turning every trial into a referendum on race is beyond parody. The guy was CONVICTED. By a jury. With ONE Black guy on it! What more do you want?
This isn't about justice; it's about pandering to the perpetually aggrieved. It's about letting woke ideology infect the legal system. It's about giving criminals another excuse to delay their inevitable date with the Grim Reaper.
Meanwhile, the victim's family gets to relive the nightmare all over again. But hey, at least Pitchford gets to feel good about fighting the power, right? Never mind the fact that he's a convicted murderer.
So, congrats to Terry Pitchford. You've successfully gamed the system. Enjoy your extra time on death row. And thanks, Supreme Court, for reminding us why we can't have nice things.
The Supremes are allowing Terry Pitchford to claim racial bias in jury selection for his 2006 murder conviction, showcasing the absurd levels of wokeness infecting the justice system.
