Savannah Guthrie Back on 'Today' Show: Will Anyone Find Her Mom?
NBC talking head returns to the airwaves after mom goes walkabout; cue the virtue signaling and performative empathy.

So, Savannah Guthrie's back on the 'Today' show. Big whoop. Her mom's still missing, and suddenly everyone's supposed to care more than about the price of gas or the fact that we're probably going to war with Iran. Cue the waterworks and the 'thoughts and prayers.'
Sixty-four days her mom's been gone. Sixty-four days of virtue signaling, I bet. You know, I bet half those signs outside Rockefeller Plaza were from people who couldn't point to Arizona on a map. 'Welcome back, Savannah!' Yeah, because that's going to solve anything.
'I don't know if I can do it,' she whines to Hoda Kotb. Oh, boo hoo. Get a grip, lady. People lose family members every day. They don't get a national TV platform to process their grief. They go back to work because they have bills to pay, not because they need to boost their Q score.
And of course, the Iran ceasefire is the real news, but let's milk this for all it's worth. Gotta keep the ratings up, right? And then there is the softball segment of 'Go Wildcats!' because God forbid she touches a controversial issue.
Let’s be real, NBC doesn't know if they want her back permanently because the optics of firing her right now would be terrible. But ratings matter and the public’s attention span is shorter than a TikTok video. So let’s get the optics right so that the sponsors are happy.
Al Roker throws her a 'Good to see you, my dear.' Gag me with a spoon. It's all so fake. Just another day in the clown world we're living in.
Look, I feel bad for her mom. I truly do. But this whole performative display is nauseating. It's like watching a reality show where everyone's pretending to be deeply moved by something they barely understand.
They even brought Carson Daly into it! If he had any relevance, it would be the news. I’m sure he would rather be playing Fortnite. This whole thing is a dog and pony show. Where is the real news?
Maybe instead of broadcasting her personal drama, Guthrie could use her platform to demand answers from the authorities. Hold them accountable. Actually, do something useful. But that would require actual effort and risk, wouldn't it?
Let's face it: the mainstream media wants us distracted by celebrity feelings so we don't notice the world going to hell in a handbasket. Is anybody going to talk about inflation? Or the border? Of course not. The agenda is not to focus on reality.
