Pakistan Whines for Deadline Extension, Iran's Hormuz Gambit: Same Ol' Song, Different Ayatollah
Sharif begs Trump for more time to 'diplomatically' solve problems, while Iran dangles the Hormuz Strait like a cat toy. Wake me up when something actually happens.

Islamabad – So, Pakistan's PM Sharif, bless his heart, is over here simping for a deadline extension from Daddy Trump. Claims progress in 'diplomatic efforts' – yeah, the same 'diplomatic efforts' that have been going on since, what, the Crusades? Give me a break. Meanwhile, Iran is threatening to close, er, maybe open, the Strait of Hormuz again. It's like they're running a reality TV show over there. 'Will they, won't they?' Spoiler alert: they'll probably posture a lot and then nothing will change.
Sharif says we need to 'allow diplomacy to run its course.' Translation: 'Please don't hold us accountable for anything while we kick the can down the road for another decade.' Look, diplomacy is great and all, but sometimes you need a bigger stick than Sun Tzu to get things done. These guys aren't exactly known for their ironclad commitments, are they?
The Strait of Hormuz is basically Iran's nuclear football – they threaten to kick it around whenever they need attention (or sanctions relief). And every time, the media freaks out like it's the end of the world. Remember the 'Tanker Wars'? Good times. This ain't our first rodeo, folks.
Pakistan playing mediator is like putting a fox in charge of the henhouse. They're constantly playing both sides to see what they can get out of it. Don't trust 'em as far as you can throw 'em. They're about as reliable as a CNN poll.
Historically, these situations only resolve themselves with a healthy dose of American firepower (or at least the threat of it). Diplomacy is a nice accessory, but a strong military is the main course. Remember the good ol' days of Pax Americana? Those were the times.
Trump's probably rolling his eyes at this whole charade. He knows exactly what's going on. The question is, will he call their bluff or cave to the pressure? My money's on him tweeting something vaguely threatening and then playing golf.
Transparency? Accountability? In the Middle East? You're hilarious. Just assume everyone's lying, and you'll probably be right. It's the only way to maintain your sanity.
Observers are closely watching… blah blah blah. Nobody cares. The only thing that matters is whether the price of gas goes up. And if it does, blame Iran. It's always Iran.
So, yeah, Pakistan wants more time, Iran is doing its usual dance, and the world keeps spinning. Don't expect anything to actually change. This is just another Tuesday in the Middle East. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.
Basically, it's the same plot we've been watching for years. Will the US flex enough to prevent some nonsense? Probably not until it impacts the wallet.
