Murdaugh Gets Mulligan Thanks to Clerk's Big Mouth: Clown World Justice Continues
South Carolina Supreme Court lets Murdaugh off the hook (for now) because Becky Hill couldn't keep her yap shut.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — So, the Murdaugh saga continues, folks. Turns out, even rich, allegedly murderous lawyers can catch a break. The South Carolina Supreme Court decided to give Alex Murdaugh a do-over, all thanks to the blabbermouth of former Colleton County Clerk of Court, Becky Hill. You can't make this stuff up, but apparently, she made enough stuff up to make this up.
The court's official excuse? Hill's yakking to the jury might have, just might have, swayed their decision. Allegedly she told them not to be fooled by Murdaugh's defense. I mean, the defense was probably a load of bull, but still, you can't have the court clerk openly rooting for the prosecution like she's at a college football game.
AG Alan Wilson is, of course, putting on his best "we're disappointed but we'll play along" face and promising a speedy retrial. "The Supreme Court, in its order today, basically laid the blame on this reversal on the shoulders of former Colton County Clerk of Court , Rebecca [Becky] Hill, and it was her conduct that has led to this decision today, not the conduct of anyone else," Wilson told Fox News Digital. Right, because the prosecution had nothing to do with it. Sure, Jan.
Let's be real, this whole thing smells fishier than a week-old seafood buffet. But hey, that's the American legal system for ya: equal justice under the law... unless you're rich, or have a chatty Cathy working for the court, or both. Now it's a circus, the kind where they keep finding new clowns.
What's next? Maybe Hill will write a tell-all book. Or maybe Murdaugh will run for governor. At this point, anything is possible in this Banana Republic.
"We are disappointed in the court’s decision. We respect this court, we respect the members of the court, but we strongly disagree with their reasoning," Wilson told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on The Story. Disagree all you want buddy, you'll be back to the drawing board.
The prosecution and defense both know what the other will play. That means that the people will be watching closely. And if justice is not served, people might just start to lose their minds.
Hill has been arrested on charges of perjury and misconduct after pleading guilty to some charges. So, this is likely to be a long process with many new twists and turns that will keep the people guessing. It is important to stay vigilant and question everything.
This is just another example of why the common man feels detached from the government. What kind of justice can be served when there's corruption at every turn? At this rate, the only thing the people will be able to trust is their own instincts.
Wilson said that prosecutors were unaware of Hill's conduct during the initial trial. Maybe this is true. But it doesn't make sense that they would leave someone like this in charge and trust them with this amount of authority. The oversight is extremely lacking.
The retrial of Alex Murdaugh is bound to be a dumpster fire of legal maneuvering and media frenzy. But hey, at least it'll give us something to laugh about while the world burns. Buckle up, buttercups. This ride ain't over yet.
