Math is Hard: Socialist Mayor and Gov. Hochul Drop $495K Taxpayer Cash on Abortion Hotline, Can’t Agree on the Numbers
While celebrating the anniversary of the based Dobbs decision, NYC and NY State bureaucrats fail to align their press releases on a $30,000 discrepancy.

Just when you thought New York's progressive leadership couldn't get any more disorganized, democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Governor Kathy Hochul have teamed up to drop $495,000 of your hard-earned tax dollars on expanding the NYC Abortion Access Hub. Apparently, the plan is to turn the Big Apple into a regional control center for out-of-state abortion tourism, helping callers secure lodging and travel to bypass other states' laws.
But because this is a government operation run by New York progressives, they couldn't even get their press releases to match. Mayor Mamdani's office proudly announced that the state's annual investment in this hotline is $220,000. Meanwhile, Governor Hochul's team put out a release claiming the state's contribution is $250,000. Somewhere in the bureaucratic void, $30,000 of taxpayer money has vanished into a math error, leaving local officials scrambling to explain the discrepancy.
The timing of the announcement was no accident. The dynamic duo scheduled their press event on the fourth anniversary of the Supreme Court's glorious Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, which threw Roe v. Wade into the trash heap where it belongs. While normal people celebrate the return of constitutional sanity and state-level self-determination, New York’s leftists are still visibly seething over the court's reminder that the Constitution does not guarantee a right to end unborn lives.
According to the hotline’s own stats, the program is essentially acting as an interstate abortion travel agency. A staggering 25 percent of the calls to the confidential hotline come from people who don't even live in New York State. The Hub has answered over 10,400 calls and 5,000 chat messages, with over half of the inquiries asking for chemical medication abortions. Rather than focusing on local issues like crime or failing infrastructure, New York is spending half a million dollars to manage the healthcare logistics of other states.
This is all part of the state's aggressive "shield law" policy, which basically allows New York doctors to act like international drug runners, mailing over 330,000 abortion pills directly into states where the practice is banned. This blatant disregard for federalism has already caused major legal drama. Governor Hochul recently had to sign a law protecting local pill prescribers after a doctor was actually indicted in Louisiana for shipping abortion drugs across state lines.
This behavior is exactly what conservative commentators have been warning about. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pointed out on 'The Ingraham Angle' that democratic socialists now completely control the Democratic Party in New York, and this latest funding spree is living proof. While Florida Republican gubernatorial candidates are pledging to shut down every single abortion clinic in their state, New York is doubling down on its lawless sanctuary status.
Mayor Mamdani used his platform to whine about the Supreme Court's ruling once again. "Four years ago, the disastrous Dobbs decision stripped away a fundamental right and put reproductive health care out of reach for millions of Americans across this country," Mamdani lamented in his official statement. "Since then, New York has led the fight to protect abortion care. On this anniversary, we are expandi..."
