Israel Keeps Lebanon's Lawn Mowed: Southern Exposure Edition
Al Jazeera's Obaida Hitto reports from Tyre as Israel gives Southern Lebanon a much-needed trim, because nobody else will.

Tyre, Lebanon – Okay, so Al Jazeera's Obaida Hitto is clutching his pearls in Tyre because Israel is, once again, reminding southern Lebanon who's boss. Turns out, when you let your backyard go wild with, shall we say, undesirable elements, the neighbors tend to send in the landscaping crew. Permanently.
Let's be honest: Southern Lebanon is less a sovereign nation and more a staging ground for guys who really, REALLY don't like Israel. They lob rockets, dig tunnels, and generally act like uninvited guests at a barbecue. And when the IDF shows up with the weed whacker, suddenly everyone's clutching their rosaries and screaming about “disproportionate response.” Gimme a break.
This isn't some random act of aggression; it's basic pest control. You wouldn't let rats infest your house, would you? So why should Israel tolerate terrorists setting up shop next door? Seems pretty straightforward. Call it tough love, call it border security, call it whatever you want. It's just Israel doing what it has to do to survive in a neighborhood where everyone else is either actively trying to kill them or passively cheering them on.
Of course, the usual suspects are already lining up to condemn Israel. The UN will issue strongly worded statements, the EU will wring its hands, and progressive Twitter will be awash in hashtags about “Free Palestine” (from what, exactly, remains conveniently undefined). But none of them will offer a viable alternative. Nobody wants to step in and actually clean up the mess. So Israel does it itself.
And before you start bleating about civilian casualties, let's remember who's using civilians as human shields. Hint: It's not the IDF. These terrorist groups deliberately embed themselves in civilian areas, knowing that it makes it harder for Israel to respond without causing collateral damage. It's a cynical and despicable tactic, but hey, that's their playbook.
So, yeah, Israel is hitting targets in southern Lebanon. Shocking. Absolutely earth-shattering. Almost as surprising as finding out that water is wet. The real story isn't that Israel is defending itself; it's that it has to keep defending itself, decade after decade, against the same tired threats. When will the world finally get the message that Israel isn't going anywhere? Probably never. Which is why Israel needs to keep its powder dry and its border secure. And if that means occasionally sending in the lawn service, so be it. Stay strapped or get clapped.
Maybe instead of clutching pearls about Israeli strikes, folks should be asking why Southern Lebanon is such a haven for folks who clearly want to kick off. Just sayin'. And next time, maybe try some Roundup instead of rockets? Just a thought.
