Indonesia Sends Troops to Gaza: Virtue Signal or Global Power Play?
Prabowo tries to level up Indonesia's clout while the chattering classes back home wonder if it's all just performative wokeness.

Jakarta - So, Prabowo's sending the boys to Gaza. Is it to help the Palestinians, or just another excuse for Indonesia to flex its muscles on the world stage? Hard to tell these days, isn't it? Seems like every nation's got a 'global standing' boner, and using someone else's suffering is just par for the course.
Look, nobody's buying the pure, unadulterated altruism angle. We know how this game is played. Prabowo wants Indonesia to be a big boy, sitting at the adults' table with the rest of the geopolitical heavyweights. And what better way to get noticed than by getting involved in a nice, messy international crisis?
Of course, they're saying all the right things. 'Solidarity with Palestine,' 'humanitarian assistance,' blah blah blah. But let's be real, this is about Indonesia, not Palestine. It's about boosting Prabowo's ego and making Indonesia look like a responsible global citizen.
The usual suspects are already clutching their pearls, decrying the deployment as not enough, or too much, or just plain the wrong thing to do. Can't please everyone, especially when everyone's got an agenda. Virtue signaling is the name of the game.
Remember Sukarno? Yeah, Prabowo probably wants to be Sukarno 2.0. Leading the third world, standing up to the man, all that jazz. Except, you know, without the whole authoritarian dictatorship thing (hopefully).
So, what's the actual plan? No one seems to know for sure. Size? Mission? Duration? Top secret, apparently. Probably because they're still making it up as they go along. Winging it, Indonesian style.
Expect plenty of hand-wringing from the usual NGOs and human rights groups. They'll be all over this like flies on you know what. International law, human rights violations, accountability – the whole nine yards. As if any of that actually matters in the real world.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are just sitting here, watching the circus unfold. Popcorn ready, takes notes.
Is this a win for the Palestinians? Maybe. Is it a win for Prabowo? Probably. Is it a win for Indonesia's global image? Definitely. Will any of this actually make a difference in the long run? Don't hold your breath. The Great Game continues, and we're all just pawns in someone else's power grab. Sad!
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Just don't expect any miracles. Or any real honesty, for that matter.
Remember, everything is a psyop. Even this troop deployment. But hey, at least it's entertaining.
Keep calm and carry on. And don't trust anything you hear.
