Fair Fares: Yet Another NYC Handout That'll Bankrupt Us All!
City Council's virtue signaling over 'Fair Fares' will leave taxpayers holding the bag... again.
So, the glorious leaders of New York City want to expand the 'Fair Fares' program. Translation: more free stuff for people who don't pay taxes, all courtesy of the productive members of society. Council Member Brad Lander and Comrade Corey Johnson are at it again, pushing for half-price MetroCards for the 'low-income' (read: reliably Democrat voting bloc). Budget director Jacques Jiha is the only adult in the room, apparently, questioning the cost-effectiveness of this socialist pipedream. Bless his heart.
Let's be real, 'Fair Fares' isn't about helping the poor; it's about buying votes and virtue signaling to the woke mob. The program already bleeds taxpayer money, and expanding it is like throwing gasoline on a dumpster fire. But hey, who cares about fiscal responsibility when you can score woke points, right?
We're told this is about 'economic mobility.' Newsflash: economic mobility comes from hard work, not government handouts. Giving people discounted MetroCards won't magically transform them into productive members of society. It's just another way to perpetuate the cycle of dependency.
The real problem isn't the cost of transportation; it's the exorbitant cost of living in New York City. Thanks to decades of liberal policies, the city is drowning in regulations, taxes, and crime. But instead of addressing these root causes, they're throwing money at feel-good programs that don't solve anything.
And let's not forget the inevitable fraud and abuse. You think everyone getting a 'Fair Fares' MetroCard is truly deserving? Please. The system will be gamed, and the taxpayers will be fleeced. But hey, as long as the politicians get to pat themselves on the back, who cares?
This whole thing is peak clown world. The city is teetering on the brink of financial collapse, and the geniuses in City Hall are proposing to spend even more money on useless programs. It's like the Titanic rearranging the deck chairs while the iceberg looms large.
But hey, at least the homeless will be able to ride the subway for half price while they defecate on the seats. Progress!
This is why we can't have nice things. Every time a politician proposes a 'compassionate' program, remember that it's coming out of your pocket. And remember that it probably won't work anyway.
So, prepare yourselves, taxpayers. The 'Fair Fares' expansion is coming, and it's going to hurt. But hey, at least you can feel good about helping the 'less fortunate' while your own bank account dwindles to zero. Isn't that what really matters?
At this point, might as well just give everyone a free pony and call it a day. It'd be just as effective and probably cheaper.
Don't be surprised when the city goes full Venezuela. We're well on our way. Thanks, woke NYC! You're doing great, sweetie!
