DeepMind Woke-minds Triggered: Unionize Over Mean Tweets... I Mean, AI
Google's AI lab throws a tantrum over helping Israel and the US, proving once again that tech bros are just overgrown toddlers.

So, the perpetually offended snowflakes at Google DeepMind are having a meltdown. Seems like their safe space has been infiltrated by gasp reality. These precious geniuses, who probably think coding is a form of social justice, are clutching their pearls over the possibility that their AI might, you know, actually be used for something useful – like, say, defending freedom or keeping the world safe from terrorists. I know, shocking, right?
Apparently, a few hundred of these delicate flowers at DeepMind's London office have voted to unionize. Why? Because they're having a moral crisis over the fact that their AI could be used by the US and Israeli governments. Because, of course, fighting for freedom is problematic now. These are the same people who probably think Hamas is a misunderstood liberation movement.
Google DeepMind, bless their hearts, has agreed to meet with these whiners at Acas (some British bureaucracy, who cares). They’re not voluntarily recognizing the union – because even they know this is ridiculous – but they’re willing to humor the tantrum to avoid bad PR. A company email stated that talks at Acas “may lead to a formal ballot in a few months’ time, giving all eligible employees the opportunity to vote on whether they want to be represented by the unions.” Imagine actually voting to be represented by a bunch of woke scolds.
Of course, there’s a token Palestinian thrown in for good measure. A former DeepMind AI researcher is suing Google, claiming he was wrongfully dismissed for protesting their work with Israel. Cue the violins. Google disputes this, naturally, because even they have some semblance of common sense left. But hey, gotta virtue signal to the Twitterati, right?
These are the same companies bending over backwards to censor viewpoints that might hurt some feelings somewhere on the internet while enabling China to use AI to subjugate their own population, but helping Israel defend themselves is where they draw the line.
Israeli officials have even credited Google's cloud computing with helping them fight the Gaza conflict. Oh, the horror! Imagine a country defending itself against terrorists using… technology! These virtue signaling nerds would probably prefer they just send strongly worded letters.
Back in 2025, Google DeepMind dropped a promise not to allow its technologies to be used in “harmful weapons or surveillance.” What a bunch of sellouts! The horror! They probably realized that they can make more money by actually being useful. Now, the employees are in full-blown rebellion mode, demanding that their algorithms be used only for… what? Cat videos? Identifying microaggressions?
