Cuba's Woke Reckoning: Will They Ever Stop Crying About the Past?
Comrade snowflakes triggered by history? Get over it, the world doesn't owe you a participation trophy.
So, Cuba's having a 'reckoning' with its past, huh? Translation: the commies are probably rewriting history to make themselves look even less terrible than they already do. Because nothing screams 'progress' like pretending your failed socialist paradise wasn't a total dumpster fire. The question now is, who's gonna rewrite the rewrite? Probably the same clowns who think Che Guevara was a fashion icon.
Let's rewind, shall we? Before Castro turned Cuba into a Soviet satellite, it wasn't exactly utopia, but at least people had a shot at owning property and making a buck. Then came Fidel, promising equality and delivering only misery and food shortages. But hey, free healthcare, right? As long as you don't mind waiting in line for five years to see a doctor.
And don't even get me started on the U.S. embargo. Yeah, it's been a pain, but it's also a convenient excuse for the Cuban government's incompetence. Blaming America is always easier than admitting your ideology is a bigger failure than CNN+.
Now they want to 'reckon' with all this. Expect a lot of virtue signaling and zero actual change. They'll probably apologize for something trivial while conveniently forgetting about the political prisoners and the folks who risked their lives on makeshift rafts to escape the 'workers' paradise.'
The only thing Cuba needs to reckon with is the fact that socialism sucks. It's a system designed to enrich the ruling elite while keeping everyone else poor and miserable. But hey, at least they're woke, right? Give me a break.
This whole 'reckoning' is just a smokescreen to distract from the real issues: a stagnant economy, a lack of freedom, and a government that's more interested in clinging to power than improving the lives of its people. Prepare for a lot of hot air and zero results. It's the Cuban way.
So, buckle up, buttercups. The saga of Cuba's socialist struggle session is just beginning. Will they ever admit the revolution was a mistake? Don't hold your breath. They'd sooner blame capitalism for their problems than admit their ideology is a one-way ticket to the breadlines. It's all virtue signaling, no results. As per usual.
In the meantime, I'll be over here, waiting for the inevitable wave of 'Cuba is actually good' think pieces from clueless academics who've never spent a day in the real world. It's going to be YUGE.
