Comrades in Gotham: Far-Left Sweeps NYC Primaries as Establishment Dem Cope Reaches Critical Mass
With multi-millionaire incumbents getting absolutely wrecked by socialist challengers, the DSA is officially claiming ownership of New York—and telling the party bosses to sit down.

Well, comrades, it finally happened. The socialist revolution didn't start with a bang, but with a primary ballot in deep-blue New York City. In a stunning display of political dominance, at least a dozen candidates endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) absolutely swept the Tuesday primaries, making House Speaker Mike Johnson’s warnings of a "Marxist march" look less like hyperbole and more like a routine weather forecast. The establishment Democrats got completely rolled, and the far-left is already taking a victory lap.
Let’s look at the absolute carnage in the congressional races. Progressive darling Brad Lander, alongside Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez, didn't just win—they sent prominent establishment Democrats packing. Among the casualties were incumbent Representatives Dan Goldman and Adriano Espaillat. Yes, Dan Goldman—a multi-millionaire establishment favorite—got booted out of his deep-blue seat by a democratic socialist coalition. Because these districts are so overwhelmingly blue, winning the primary is basically a golden ticket straight to Congress, meaning we are about to have a brand-new squad of radicals heading to D.C.
Naturally, the DSA leadership is not playing coy about their new conquests. In a leaked post-election call clipped by Manhattan Institute analyst Stu Smith, a DSA boss was heard gloating about their new kingdom. He bragged that more than three million New Yorkers are now represented by socialists at multiple levels of government, in some cases at every level. And to anyone thinking of challenging their new red fiefdom, the message was simple: "Don't even try it. We control these areas." It's pure boss energy, basically telling Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer that they've been evicted from their own house.
Meanwhile, the grandmaster of progressive lecturing, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), was on hand to take his victory lap. Sanders declared that the "era of status quo politics is over" and boasted about how working people defeated establishment politicians and massive corporate war chests. He didn’t stop there, though. Sanders issued a clear threat to the national Democratic Party leadership: "if Democrats regain control of Congress next year, they must listen to the people who put them in office." Translation: bend the knee to the progressive wing, or face the primary firing squad.
Let's not forget the kingmaker behind this whole operation: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The DSA leader openly admitted that Mamdani is positioned to help the socialist party "seize state power," which sounds totally normal and not at all like a supervillain monologue. Mamdani recently celebrated his first 100 days in office by hugging Bernie Sanders at the Knockdown Center, and now his hand-picked candidates are packing their bags for Washington. The ideological platform they ran on is a conservative’s absolute fever dream: a radical socialist economic agenda, open hostility toward Israel, and a promise to completely dismantle ICE.
Over in the establishment camp, the cope is reaching hazardous levels. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) tried his best to downplay the absolute shellacking, essentially telling reporters that everything is fine and there's nothing to see here. On the other side of the aisle, House Speaker Mike Johnson was practically popping popcorn, pointing out the obvious "Marxist march" and claiming Jeffries has officially lost all control of his party. Honestly, it’s hard to argue with him when the DSA is literally claiming they own the city.
As Lander, Chevalier, and Valdez prepare to take their seats in Congress, the implications for the national Democratic Party are hilarious. Schumer and Jeffries are going to have to manage a caucus that is increasingly hostile to moderate economic policies and traditional national security priorities. The radical left has realized that they don't need to win statewide; they just need to primary moderate targets in urban enclaves and let the deep-blue demographics do the rest.
So, congratulations to the establishment Democrats of New York. You spent years catering to the progressive wing, and now they have officially taken the keys to the house, locked the door, and told you to sleep on the porch. We’re about to see just how far this "Marxist march" goes once they arrive in Washington.
