Commie Cubs Throw May Day Tantrum in Front of US Embassy
Havana's yearly 'worker's paradise' parade—sponsored by the same geniuses who brought you food shortages and vintage Ladas—happened again, right under Uncle Sam's nose.
Another May Day, another chance for the Cuban commies to wave their little red flags and pretend everything's sunshine and roses on their tropical gulag. This year's performance took place, as always, right in front of the American Embassy in Havana. Gotta hand it to 'em, they've got chutzpah, or maybe just a complete lack of self-awareness.
International Worker's Day in Cuba? More like International 'Pretend We're Not Starving' Day. These parades are less about celebrating labor and more about reminding everyone who's boss. It's the Castro Brothers' Greatest Hits, except Raul's probably phoning it in from his luxury villa these days.
The US Embassy backdrop is chef's kiss levels of trolling. It's like they're daring Uncle Sam to do something. And what does Uncle Sam do? Mostly wrings his hands and talks about 'engagement.' Meanwhile, the average Cuban is scraping by on rations and dreaming of defecting on a leaky raft.
Speaking of engagement, how's that working out? We've tried the 'soft power' approach, the 'normalization' song and dance. All it's gotten us is a slightly less grumpy dictatorship that still hates our guts and props up every tinpot socialist regime from Venezuela to North Korea.
The Left will tell you the embargo is the problem. It's always the embargo. Never the centrally planned economy that makes Venezuela look like Singapore. Never the lack of freedom or the kleptocratic ruling class. Nope, it's all America's fault. Classic.
But hey, at least the May Day parade gives the tourists something to Instagram, right? Gotta get those vintage car pics and Che Guevara t-shirts. Don't worry, the regime gets a nice cut of every transaction. It's all for the revolution, comrade!
Honestly, the whole thing is a joke. A sad, pathetic joke played out against the backdrop of a once-prosperous island nation reduced to a shell of its former self. But hey, at least they have free healthcare… if you don't mind waiting six months for an aspirin.
The only thing more pathetic than the parade itself is the Western apologists who still defend this regime. They'll talk about 'social progress' and 'revolutionary ideals' while conveniently ignoring the fact that Cuba is essentially a one-party state with a deeply entrenched ruling class.
So, let's raise a glass (of rum smuggled from Miami) to the Cuban people, the real victims of this ongoing charade. May they one day be free from the shackles of communism and enjoy the same liberties and opportunities that we take for granted. Until then, we'll keep watching the May Day parade and shaking our heads in disbelief.
Maybe it’s time to stop playing nice and start speaking softly while carrying a big stick. Or at least, you know, enforcing the damn embargo.
And to the libs who still defend this nonsense: go spend a week in Havana. Then tell me about the wonders of socialism.
