CHORNOBYL, Ukraine – Forty years ago, the Chornobyl nuke plant went kaboom in what’s now Ukraine, back when it was all part of the glorious (not) Soviet Union. Turns out, communism and nuclear safety don’t exactly mix. Who knew?

The whole thing was a cover-up from the get-go. Transparency? Accountability? Not in the USSR’s vocabulary. They were too busy blaming the West and suppressing dissent.

Then came the cleanup, performed by a bunch of poor saps who were basically told to run into the reactor with shovels. Safety gear? Nah, just some good ol' Soviet grit. Talk about a human sacrifice to the altar of ideology. I bet those people wish they were MAGA right now.

And the libs want to tell us about systemic racism and climate change? This whole disaster was a textbook example of systemic stupidity and centralized planning gone wrong. But yeah, let's talk about pronouns and carbon footprints while ignoring the radioactive elephant in the room.

All this because the Soviets wanted to flex their muscles and show the world how technologically advanced they were. Spoiler alert: they weren't. They couldn't even build a safe nuke plant, let alone win a Cold War. The disaster underscores the consequences of unchecked power and the inherent inefficiencies of socialist systems.

And yet, the left is still pushing for more government control over our lives. Don’t they ever learn? The 40th anniversary of Chornobyl is a chance to remember what happens when politicians have too much power and too little accountability. It's a great time to celebrate the benefits of liberty and free markets.
