California Commiefornia Goes After Amazon: Is Price-Fixing Just Free Market Magic?
Left Coast AG Rob Bonta throws a hissy fit over alleged email collusion, but is this just another case of government overreach ruining everything?

SAN FRANCISCO – So, the People's Republic of California's Attorney General, Rob Bonta (sounds like a Bond villain, tbh), is throwing a tantrum because Amazon allegedly colluded with other companies to raise prices. Surprise, surprise. The same state that wants to tax you for breathing now has a problem with capitalism doing its thing.
According to newly unsealed emails (leaked by some woke intern, probably), Amazon supposedly leaned on vendors to pressure Walmart and Chewy into jacking up prices on stuff like dog treats, khaki pants (lol, who still wears those?), and eyedrops. Cry me a river, snowflakes.
Bonta, in a statement dripping with the usual leftist outrage, claims Amazon is “working to make your life more unaffordable.” Newsflash: everything in California is already unaffordable. Maybe he should focus on fixing the state's dumpster fire instead of harassing successful companies.
Apparently, Amazon sent an email to a pet treat manufacturer suggesting Chewy should “follow suit accordingly” with price increases. And in another case, Levi’s told Amazon that Walmart “partnered with us” to raise the price of Dockers to $29.99. The horror! The absolute tyranny!
Amazon, predictably, responded by calling Bonta’s case “a transparent attempt to distract from the weakness of its case.” Which, let's be real, is probably true. California is drowning in debt and its policies are driving businesses out of the state faster than you can say “woke capitalism.”
Look, I'm not saying price-fixing is a good thing. But let's not pretend this is some shocking revelation. Companies have been trying to manipulate the market since the dawn of time. It's called business, baby. And sometimes, the free market means prices go up. Deal with it.
Maybe, just maybe, instead of siccing the government on Amazon, California should try creating a business-friendly environment that encourages competition. But hey, that would require actual work and a willingness to admit that their socialist policies are failing miserably. Can't have that, now can we?
This whole thing reeks of political grandstanding and another attempt to demonize successful companies. The real crime here is the state of California itself, and its relentless assault on freedom and prosperity.
So, next time you're complaining about the price of dog treats, remember who's really to blame: the government. And maybe consider moving to a state that actually values freedom and free markets. Just sayin'.
