Bernardi Pays Up: Did Rinehart Really 'Donate' or Just Lend Him a Ride?
SA pol's reimbursement exposes the clown world of campaign finance laws; when does a favor become a 'donation,' anyway?

Adelaide, Australia - Cory Bernardi, One Nation MLC in South Australia, caved to the woke mob and paid Gina Rinehart back for some plane flights during his election campaign. Apparently, flying on a billionaire's private jet now counts as an illegal 'donation' in the land down under. Guess virtue signaling is global now.
These new South Australian laws are peak clown world. Can't even accept a ride from a friend without the fun police slapping you with a $50,000 fine or, worse, a decade in the slammer. I mean, seriously? It's like they want to make campaigning only possible for trust fund babies who already have private jets.
Bernardi claims the flights were "worth every cent" to reach those forgotten rural folks. Good on him for getting out there, unlike the uni-party swamp creatures who spend their days tweeting from Canberra or inner-city latte shops. But the whole thing reeks of political theater: 'Oh noes, I accidentally broke the law by flying on a plane! I must repent by sending back the equivalent of pocket change to a mining magnate!'
The flights, featuring special guest star Pauline Hanson, happened back in March. Hanson, bless her heart, even thanked Rinehart's lackey, Adam Giles, for the lift. Said something sassy about not being greeted as a foreigner in her own country every time the plane lands. Can't argue with that. The TSA is annoying, even for white people.
And here's where it gets extra spicy: if the flight was considered a 'federal duty' for Hanson, then maybe it doesn't even count as a state election donation. Bureaucracy! Loopholes! It's a gift that keeps on giving... to lawyers, anyway.
Hanson, never one to take responsibility, shrugged it all off, saying she was just a 'passenger' and it was Bernardi's problem. Based. But typical. Meanwhile, she's been busy updating her gift registry with all the other freebies Rinehart's tossed her way, including a trip to a conservative conference in Florida. Swamp creatures gonna swamp, amirite?
The question is: did Rinehart really think she was buying influence? Or was she just being a decent human being, helping a guy get around the country? I'm leaning toward the latter. But in this hyper-polarized, everything-is-problematic world, even a simple act of kindness gets twisted into some nefarious conspiracy.
So, Bernardi coughed up the $40k+, the woke scolds are temporarily satisfied, and the uni-party continues to consolidate its power. The system is working exactly as intended. Well done, everyone. You've successfully made politics even more boring and transactional.
