Another One Bites the Dust: Hooker's Husband 'Heartbroken' After Wife Goes for a Swim... Without a Boat
Lynette Hooker takes an unscheduled dip near Elbow Cay; hubby blames 'unpredictable seas' (sure, Jan).

HOPE TOWN, Bahamas — Welp, another one's gone for a swim. This time it's Lynette Hooker, 55, who reportedly took an impromptu dive off a dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas. Her husband, Brian Hooker, 58, claims he's 'heartbroken' about the whole ordeal. Color me skeptical.
According to Brian, he and Lynette were puttering along in their little dinghy after a hard day's... yachting? When suddenly, whoopsie, Lynette takes a tumble. And the ignition key goes with her! Talk about a self-own. Engine's dead, current's strong, and Lynette's doing her best impression of a drifting buoy. Classic.
Brian says he heroically paddled back to shore and reported her missing. Four hours later. Sure, Jan. I'm just sayin', things that make you go 'hmmm...' This sounds like a Lifetime movie plot waiting to happen.
Now, Brian's out there on Facebook, posting about his 'beloved' Lynette and thanking the Bahamian authorities, the volunteer fire department (?), the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, and the US Coast Guard for their 'tireless efforts.' Bless their hearts. Probably using more fuel looking for her than she's worth. (Kidding! Mostly.)
Let's be real, though. Rich people problems. They're out there gallivanting around in their yachts, and suddenly, surprise, surprise, something goes wrong. Maybe it's the 'unpredictable seas.' Maybe it's something else entirely. Who knows? Who cares, really? (Again, kidding! Sort of.)
At the end of the day, this is just another reminder that even paradise has its downsides. Like, say, accidentally falling off your dinghy and becoming shark bait. Or, you know, whatever really happened.
So, pour one out for Lynette, and let's hope she's found safe and sound. Or at least that Brian has a good lawyer.
Meanwhile, I'm gonna go invest in a personal flotation device. And maybe a bigger boat. Just in case.
