Woke Books Get the Boot: Non-Fiction Bans Double, Snowflakes Triggered
PEN America cries censorship as parents reclaim schools from the clutches of woke indoctrination, banning leftist propaganda disguised as 'non-fiction'.

Another day, another victory in the culture war. PEN America, the perpetually triggered arbiters of 'free speech' (as long as it aligns with their worldview), are clutching their pearls over a new report showing a doubling of non-fiction book bans in schools. Turns out, parents are finally waking up and realizing that their kids are being force-fed leftist propaganda disguised as educational material. And they're doing something about it. Good. About time. PEN America has been tracking book bans since 2021, apparently having nothing better to do with their time. They've recorded over 23,000 instances. We say, keep those numbers climbing, folks!
According to the report, the books getting the axe are those insidious tomes on 'activism and social movements.' You know, the ones that teach impressionable young minds to hate America, question authority (unless it's a Democrat), and embrace every wacky gender ideology under the sun. McKenna Samson, a co-author of the report, whines that these books help students 'learn about their rights.' Yeah, their 'rights' to demand free stuff, riot in the streets, and identify as attack helicopters. Examples of these 'banned' books include 'Challenges for LGBTQ+ Teens' (because apparently, being a teenager isn't challenging enough), 'Aztec, Inca, and Maya' (critical race theory disguised as history), and 'Night' by Elie Wiesel (okay, that one's actually important, but probably triggers the woke crowd with its traditional moral lessons).
Kasey Meehan, director of PEN America’s 'freedom to read' program (translation: freedom to shove leftist ideology down everyone's throats), calls this trend an 'embrace of anti-intellectualism.' No, Kasey, it's an embrace of common sense. It's about reclaiming our schools from the clutches of the woke mob and ensuring that our kids are taught actual facts, not politically charged narratives. The report also laments the banning of sex education books like 'You Know, Sex: Bodies, Gender, Puberty and Other Things.' Probably because it doesn't teach kids the joys of transitioning and the importance of using pronouns. Thank goodness for parental oversight.
The numbers are telling: books featuring LGBTQ+ characters (39%) and people of color (44%) are being targeted. Translation: parents are tired of their kids being bombarded with identity politics and being told that they're either oppressors or oppressed based on the color of their skin. And those books about 'death and grief' (48%) and 'empowerment and self-esteem' (39%)? Probably filled with victimhood narratives and toxic positivity. Give me a break. The snowflakes can't handle the harsh realities of life. They need to toughen up. Instead they are pushing garbage like 'Fahrenheit 451' by Ray Bradbury, 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins, 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee, and 'Push' by Sapphire.
