Taliban Just Made Divorce HARDER. Libs Are Seething. (Good.)
Turns out, 'My body, my choice' doesn't play so well when you're stuck in a forced marriage. Who could have seen that coming?

KABUL – Okay, folks, buckle up, because the Woke Industrial Complex is having a meltdown over in Afghanistan. Turns out, the Taliban just dropped a new divorce law that's got the progressive set clutching their pearls and screaming about “systemic violence against women.” The gist? It's now way harder for women to ditch their husbands, especially if those husbands are all, “Nah, fam, we stayin' married.”
Cue the outrage. The usual suspects – UN mouthpieces, virtue-signaling activists, and blue-haired Twitterati – are all wailing about how this is basically the end of civilization as we know it. They're shrieking about child marriage, forced unions, and the patriarchy crushing the dreams of Afghan women everywhere. Yawn.
Now, let's get real for a second. Nobody's saying forced marriage is a good thing. But maybe, just maybe, the Taliban aren't exactly aiming for a gender-studies PhD program at Berkeley. They're running a country (into the ground, arguably) based on, shall we say, different values. And those values don't exactly include unlimited divorce rights for everyone.
Here's the kicker: all those lovely NGOs and humanitarian groups that were falling over themselves to “empower” Afghan women back in the day? Yeah, they're nowhere to be seen now. They packed up their tote bags and fled the scene the second the Taliban rolled into town. Turns out, “empowerment” is a lot easier when you've got a Western military backing you up.
So, what's the takeaway? Well, for starters, maybe we should stop trying to impose our woke nonsense on cultures that couldn't care less about our pronouns and microaggressions. And secondly, maybe, just maybe, there are some things that are actually worse than a slightly inconvenient divorce law. Like, say, living under a regime that thinks women are basically property.
But hey, at least the libs are upset. That's always a win. The UN is “concerned”? Good. Maybe they should be more concerned with, oh I don’t know, world hunger or something. They’re all worked up over this divorce law as if this is somehow new for the Taliban. It is what it is, folks. Time to move on.
Meanwhile, back in reality, Afghan women are dealing with the consequences of decades of Western intervention and a government that makes the Puritans look like libertarians. So, spare us the crocodile tears. Unless you're planning on moving to Kabul and personally fighting for women's rights, maybe just STFU and let the Afghans sort out their own mess. Or don’t. We don’t care either way. Get rekt.
