Syria Pulls a 'Hold My Falafel' and Holds Elections After 'Reintegrating' Some Kurds
Turns out, 'reintegrating' means 'now you get to vote for us,' folks! Who could have seen that coming?

So, Syria had some elections on Sunday. Yeah, that Syria. They held 'em in Hassakeh and Kobani, two northeastern spots crawling with Kurds that they conveniently 'reintegrated' after a bit of a dust-up in January. 'Reintegrated.' Right. Like when your cat 'reintegrates' the dead mouse into your living room.
This is peak Clown World, people. Assad's regime, fresh off allegedly gassing its own people, is now holding elections in areas they just finished...liberating? Nah, man, they conquered it. Let's be real. And now, suddenly, democracy blossoms? This ain't your grandma's lemonade stand, okay?
Remember when Obama drew a 'red line' in Syria? Good times. Now, it's just election season in what's left of the place. They're probably using those electronic voting machines we keep hearing about. You know, the ones that are totally secure and never, ever have any issues. (Insert sarcastic eye roll here.)
These Kurds? They've been getting screwed sideways for decades. Now they get to vote in a sham election under the watchful eye of the guy who likely shelled their neighborhoods. Progress! Except, you know, not really.
Watch the 'experts' on CNN and MSNBC tell you how this is a sign of 'stability returning' and 'Syria rebuilding.' They're probably already writing the puff pieces. Don't fall for it. It's a power grab disguised as progress.
Meanwhile, back in America, we're arguing about pronouns and whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it absolutely does, fight me). Syria's out here playing 4D chess while we're stuck in tic-tac-toe.
The only thing these elections are going to change is the official letterhead on the government memos. Same old corrupt regime, different day. Don't expect any actual freedom or prosperity for the Kurds anytime soon.
I’m not saying the Kurds shouldn’t vote. I am saying don't expect this to be a win for the good guys. More like a win for the guys who are slightly less bad at PR.
And for all those talking heads saying this is a positive development? Maybe they should go live there for a month. See how positive it is when you're dodging barrel bombs and trying to find clean water.
Remember: the establishment is always lying to you. Trust no one. Do your own research. And never, ever, trust a politician with a comb-over. (Okay, maybe that last one is just me).
In conclusion: massive eyeroll.
So next time you're at the DMV, just think: at least you're not voting in a Syrian election after your house got shelled.
