Speaker Mike Johnson Warns the Commies are Officially Breeding in New York's Deep-Blue Swamp
DSA-backed radicals just wiped out establishment Democrats, and their policy platform is as unhinged as you'd expect.

Speaker Mike Johnson went on national television Wednesday to state the obvious: the Marxists are no longer hiding in academic closets; they are actively winning congressional primaries. In a Capitol press conference, the Speaker warned that "communism is on our own shores" after New York’s deep-blue primary turned into an absolute bloodbath for moderate Democrats. Johnson called it a "very serious time" and begged normal Americans to wake up before these DSA-backed radicals start writing federal law.
The New York primary results are a massive win for the clown world caucus. Three far-left activists—Brad Lander, Darializa Avila Chevalier, and Claire Valdez—absolutely destroyed their establishment opponents. Backed by NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists of America, these candidates are running in districts so blue that their primary wins basically punch their tickets to Washington this November. There is zero chance they lose the general, meaning Congress is about to get a whole lot weirder.
The establishment didn't just lose; they got absolutely wrecked. Darializa Avila Chevalier ended the career of Representative Adriano Espaillat, the chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus who loved bragging about being the first former illegal immigrant in Congress. Meanwhile, Brad Lander took out Representative Dan Goldman, an establishment Jewish lawmaker who spent the final days of his campaign dealing with antisemitic attacks. State Assembly member Claire Valdez coasted into an open seat, completing the socialist hat trick.
The platform for this new Marxist squad is exactly what you would expect from a Twitter spaces debate. They are violently anti-Israel, want to totally abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and want to slap a wealth tax on anyone who has managed to make a dollar. These aren't just fringe talking points anymore; they are the official platform of the candidates poised to represent New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Darializa Avila Chevalier, a 32-year-old activist, is the crown jewel of this new radical lineup. She got her political start camping out at Columbia University during the pro-Palestinian protests after the October 7 attacks. Before running for office, she was active on social media, though she recently tried to clean up her digital footprint. Deleted posts reviewed by media outlets show she claimed "Israel doesn't exist," argued that "all deportation is wrong," and pushed for totally open borders.
But it gets even better. Avila Chevalier is a devout believer in prison abolition. When she sat down with the Substack publication, The New York Editorial Board, she literally refused to say whether a guy who commits a random murder should go to jail. Her online history also features her calling Joe Biden "a rapist" and posting "F--- Kamala Harris" in 2021 because the ex-VP told Guatemalans not to cross the border illegally. This is the quality of leadership New York is sending to Washington.
In the other major upset, Brad Lander managed to slide into Dan Goldman's seat. While Goldman was getting hammered with antisemitic attacks over his support for Israel, Lander—who is also Jewish—managed to win by promising to be a champion for the Palestinian cause in Congress. The absolute state of Democratic primary politics is currently a race to see who can be the most hostile to our allies while claiming the moral high ground.
Speaker Johnson pointed to these losses as proof that the old Democratic Party is officially dead. "This is not your father's Democrat Party," Johnson said, and he's not wrong. The "insurgent left" is actively purging anyone who doesn't subscribe to the Marxist handbook. Johnson has been tracking this circus since Zohran Mamdani’s upset mayoral victory, and now the infection has spread from city hall directly to the federal level.
With November quickly approaching, the Republicans are preparing for a House of Representatives that includes literal prison abolitionists and open-borders activists. The policy battles are about to get incredibly stupid as these new representatives push for wealth taxes and the destruction of border security. Speaker Johnson’s warning might sound dramatic, but when your incoming colleagues refuse to lock up murderers, "communism on our shores" is barely an exaggeration.
