Salton Sea Lithium: 'Saudi Arabia of Lithium' or Just Another Government Boondoggle?
Imperial County's lithium deposits could be huge, but will woke regulations and virtue-signaling bureaucrats screw it up?
Okay, so Imperial County has lithium. Big deal. They're calling it the 'Saudi Arabia of Lithium,' which is hilarious because, well, it's California. Land of overpriced avocado toast and virtue signaling. But hey, maybe this time they can actually extract something useful instead of just virtue signaling about saving the planet while driving their Teslas powered by… lithium.
This whole thing stinks of potential for epic government fail. We're talking about California, remember? The same state that can't keep the lights on but wants to ban gas stoves. So yeah, I'm cautiously optimistic, but mostly expecting this to turn into another taxpayer-funded disaster. Think high-speed rail, but with more lithium.
Watch the environmental activists crawl out of the woodwork to protest everything. Because mining lithium is somehow worse than using slave labor to build solar panels in China. The hypocrisy is breathtaking, but that's the Left for ya. They'll demand every extraction site has to be powered by unicorn farts and blessed by Greta Thunberg.
The real question is, can they actually get this done without bankrupting the state? Will they be able to navigate the endless layers of environmental regulations and NIMBYism? Or will it just become another endless cycle of studies, permits, and lawsuits? Place your bets, folks.
I'm calling it now: some virtue-signaling politician is going to try to nationalize the lithium mines for “the good of the people.” Next thing you know, the price of lithium batteries will skyrocket, and we'll all be riding horses again. Thanks, California!
Let's be real: this could be huge, but more likely it will be a monumental waste of time and money. But hey, at least we get some good memes out of it. Maybe we can sell them as NFTs to fund the extraction. That's peak California right there.
Don't hold your breath for Imperial County to become the next Dubai. More likely, it will become a cautionary tale about the perils of government intervention and woke ideology. Enjoy the show, folks. It's gonna be a wild ride. The only winners will be the lawyers and the consultants. Just watch.
So, let’s wait and see. It may be a success but more likely another example of the government stepping in and ruining everything. It is California after all.
