Octopus Energy CEO Finally Admits the Green New Deal is a Scam: 'You'll Own Nothing and You'll Be Happy (in the Dark)'
Greg Jackson lets slip that 'occasional blackouts' are the price of woke energy policies; wake up, sheeple!

London - So, the CEO of Octopus Energy, Greg Jackson, basically just admitted that the Green New Deal is a complete and utter fraud. He’s out there suggesting that maybe, just maybe, some people wouldn't mind a few blackouts if it meant their electricity bills were lower. Translation: you'll own nothing, and you'll be happy... in the dark.
This genius dropped that little nugget at an industry conference, conveniently timed with the anniversary of that lovely Iberian blackout that left millions in Spain and Portugal without power. Six people died, but hey, at least their bills were probably lower eventually, right?
Jackson, ever the smooth corporate salesman, claims he's not advocating for blackouts. Sure, Jan. But he did say, and I quote, that if you asked Spanish consumers if they'd accept "the odd blackout" for 25% cheaper electricity, “enough of them would say yes.” Translation: let them eat darkness!
He even had the gall to say people are “far less bothered” about blackouts now because they can just watch Netflix on their laptops. As if everyone can afford a laptop, and as if that makes up for grandma's oxygen concentrator not working. This is the elite, folks, completely detached from reality. They literally want us to live like cavemen, but with streaming services.
And let's not forget, Octopus Energy sells home batteries. So, conveniently, the solution to the blackouts they're apparently not advocating for is to buy their product. What a coincidence! I bet they’re also pushing those smart thermostats that the government can remotely control to ration your energy use. They call it “efficiency,” we call it tyranny.
The real problem, according to Jackson, is all those pesky “network investments.” You know, the things that make sure the lights stay on. Octopus Energy, bless their profit-driven hearts, is warning against “overbuilding” the grid. Because, of course, a reliable grid is just a waste of money when you can have “cheap renewables” and “flexibility.” Flexibility to freeze in the dark, that is.
A spokesperson for Octopus Energy said countries embracing cheap renewables are seeing “dramatically lower energy prices.” Tell that to the six people who died in the Iberian blackout. Tell that to the small businesses bankrupted by power outages.
Renewable energy critics (the sane ones) initially blamed Spain's reliance on wind and solar for that blackout. The official report blamed “multiple interacting factors,” but we all know what that really means: unreliable energy sources + a fragile grid = disaster waiting to happen.
