Michigan Dems Cling to Senate by Fingernails Thanks to 'Overperformance' of Some Guy Nobody's Heard Of
Firefighter/Marine Vet Chedrick Greene saves the day for the Lefties, but can he survive November?

SAGINAW, Mich. — Okay, so apparently some dude named Chedrick Greene, a firefighter AND a Marine vet (talk about checking the boxes), managed to pull off a 'special election' victory in Michigan's 35th Senate District. And the Left is losing their minds because it means they get to keep their grubby little mitts on the state senate. For now.
This district, which includes parts of Bay and Saginaw counties (basically, flyover country), is apparently so purple it's practically black and blue. Kamala Harris only squeaked by here in 2024, so you know the Dems were sweating bullets. But Greene, fueled by the tears of angry soccer moms and the hopes of Bernie Bros, somehow managed to beat Republican Jason Tunney by a surprisingly large margin.
The talking heads are calling it an 'overperformance.' Translation: even the Dems didn't think they had a chance. But hey, a win's a win, right? Except… this is just a special election. It's like winning a participation trophy at the Special Olympics. The real battle is in November, when voters get to decide who represents the 35th District for a full four years.
Tunney, bless his heart, is vowing to run again. He's probably thinking, 'Okay, I get it. People were feeling sorry for the Democrat. But now they've had their feels, and they'll come to their senses.' Maybe. Or maybe they'll just keep voting for whoever promises them free stuff.
The real question is: can Greene keep up this 'overperformance' when the midterms roll around? Will the MAGA hordes descend upon Michigan and crush him like a bug? Or will the woke warriors rally to his defense and ensure the state remains firmly in the grip of the Left?
One thing's for sure: it's gonna be a wild ride. So buckle up, buttercups. The future of Michigan (and maybe the entire country) depends on whether or not Chedrick Greene can keep the dream alive. Or, you know, until the next election when everything changes again.
Speaking of change, remember when Gretchen Whitmer was the governor? Good times. Now she's term-limited and probably eyeing a spot on MSNBC. But hey, at least we still have Chedrick Greene, the savior of Michigan… for the next six months, anyway.
So, pour one out for Jason Tunney, the guy who almost was. And raise a glass to Chedrick Greene, the accidental hero of the Democratic Party. May the odds be ever in his favor (because he's gonna need them).
