Ex-Ambassador Whines About Trump Being Too Nice to Xi: Peak Wokeness?
Establishment neocon Nicholas Burns says Trump's 'elaborate' praise of Xi made America look soft, as if we care what the ChiComs think.

Look, folks, another day, another Deep State swamp creature crawling out of the woodwork to dump on Trump. This time it's Nicholas Burns, some former ambassador who probably still thinks we should be sending pallets of cash to Iran. According to this genius, Trump was too nice to Xi Jinping at some summit. Too elaborate with the praise. Made us look weak. Oh, the humanity!
Burns, who was apparently an ambassador under Biden (that explains everything), is now safely ensconced at Harvard, where he can pontificate about foreign policy without ever having to actually, you know, do anything. He told Amna Nawaz (whoever that is) that Trump's kumbaya act with Xi made the U.S. look like a bunch of pushovers. As if Xi Jinping gives a rat's patootie what we think.
Seriously, is this what passes for foreign policy analysis these days? We're supposed to be worried about feelings? About whether the ChiComs think we're being manly enough? Get real. China's going to do whatever China's going to do, regardless of how many tough-guy speeches we give.
Trump, bless his heart, at least tried a different approach. Maybe it worked, maybe it didn't. But at least he wasn't just regurgitating the same tired old neoconservative playbook that's gotten us into endless wars and trillions of dollars in debt. Remember that 'pivot to Asia'? Good times.
Burns and his ilk want us to believe that the only way to deal with China is to rattle our sabers and threaten them with sanctions. Which, of course, has worked so well in the past. Meanwhile, they're busy selling us out to the globalist elites, lining their pockets with Chinese money, and lecturing us about the evils of nationalism. Yeah, we see you.
Frankly, I'm more concerned about the Chinese TikTok app rotting the brains of our youth than I am about Xi Jinping's delicate sensibilities. Maybe Trump's approach wasn't perfect, but at least he wasn't afraid to try something different. And that's more than you can say for most of these Beltway blowhards.
Let's be honest, the whole U.S.-China relationship is a giant grift. We buy their cheap plastic crap, they buy our debt, and everyone gets rich except the American taxpayer. And these clowns want us to believe it all hangs on the quality of Trump's Xi Jinping impression. Gimme a break.
So, thanks, Nicholas Burns, for your insightful commentary. Now go back to Harvard and leave the grown-ups to deal with the real world. We've got a country to save, and we don't have time for your woke foreign policy lectures. MAGA!
Maybe instead of worrying about being 'weak', we should focus on being smart. Like stopping the CCP from buying up all our farmland. Or getting our critical supply chains out of their grip. But nah, let's just virtue signal about human rights while our economy gets hollowed out. Clown world.
Look, I ain't saying Trump was perfect. Far from it. But at least he wasn't afraid to break some eggs. And that's more than can be said for the vast majority of the Deep State drones in Washington. Remember when he called out China for ripping us off on trade? Good times.
Time to stop listening to the 'experts' and start trusting our gut. Common sense ain't so common in DC these days. Keep draining that swamp!
