EU Caves: Back to Business with Assad?
Brussels signals 're-engagement' with Syria – because principles are for suckers, right?

So, the EU's decided to cozy up to Syria again. Apparently, all that virtue signaling about human rights and democracy was just a phase. The European Council, those paragons of moral clarity, have declared that restoring full trade ties with Syria “sends a clear political signal of the EU’s commitment to re-engage with Syria.” Translation: Oil prices are high, and someone needs a new yacht.
Remember all the outrage over Assad? The chemical weapons? The barrel bombs? Poof! Gone. Forgotten. Like Hunter Biden's laptop, it's disappeared down the memory hole. Now it's all about 're-engagement.' Because, you know, principles are great until they get in the way of a good deal.
I bet Greta Thunberg is thrilled. All those carbon emissions from rebuilding Syria are gonna be chef's kiss amazing for the planet. And don't even get me started on the inevitable influx of 'refugees' looking for a better life, courtesy of the EU's open borders policy. This is gonna be YUGE.
Let's be real: this isn't about helping the Syrian people. This is about the EU trying to exert some influence in a region where they've become increasingly irrelevant. Russia and China have been playing chess while the EU's been playing checkers. Now they're scrambling to catch up, even if it means selling their souls to the devil.
So, congratulations, Europe. You've officially abandoned any pretense of moral authority. You've chosen pragmatism over principle, and you've proven once again that money talks. Enjoy your blood oil, you virtue-signaling hypocrites.
I'm sure the folks back in Brussels are patting themselves on the back for their 'bold leadership.' Meanwhile, the rest of us are left wondering if there's anyone left in the West with a spine and some semblance of moral conviction.
But hey, at least the stock market will probably go up. That's all that really matters, right?
This is the real world folks. Get used to it. Principles are for losers. Power and money are the only things that matter. And the EU just proved it.
