Eid in Gaza: Third Time's the Misery! No Goats, Just Gloom.
Another Eid, another humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Shocked? You shouldn't be.

Welp, here we go again. Another year, another headline about Palestinians in Gaza having a crummy Eid al-Adha. This time it's the 'third' one under 'war-like conditions,' which, let's be honest, is basically every year, right? No livestock, just a heaping pile of 'diminished joy.' You'd think after, oh, I don't know, decades of this, someone would figure something out. But nah, gotta keep the cycle of misery going.
Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice. You know, the one where you're supposed to slaughter a goat and share the meat with everyone? Yeah, good luck with that in Gaza. Last I checked, goats weren't exactly growing on trees. Unless you're talking about the scapegoats everyone likes to blame for everything, of course. Those are plentiful.
'Shortage of food,' they say. You don't say! It's almost like when you consistently have problems obtaining resources that there will be a shortage of food. Wild stuff.
And of course, the obligatory hand-wringing about the 'mental and emotional well-being' of the residents. Yeah, being stuck in a perpetually unstable area with minimal resources will, probably, have a negative impact on one's well-being, color me shocked! The horror. I am being sarcastic.
So, what's the solution? More 'humanitarian assistance,' obviously! Because throwing money at a problem has always worked, right? It's a tale as old as time. Maybe, just maybe, a slightly different approach might be called for, but that would involve actually thinking critically, and we can't have that, can we?
Honestly, it's hard to even muster outrage anymore. It's just the same song and dance, year after year. The players change, the details shift, but the outcome remains the same: a big ol' mess. And the people stuck in the middle? They're the ones who suffer. But hey, at least we get some good virtue signaling out of it, right?
So, happy Eid al-Adha, Gaza. May your goat be imaginary and your joy be manufactured. Because that's about all you're gonna get. Time to break out the copeium.
The situation is definitely...suboptimal. It's like Groundhog Day but with more sand and fewer laughs. I'm not saying there's an easy solution, but doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is a pretty good definition of insanity.
Reports indicate that the lack of goats is a major bummer. Who knew?
Well, at least this news cycle is finally coming to an end. One can only hope that future Eids will be more festive and less...this.
