Dems Launch Epic Meltdown Over Clarence Thomas’s Vacations, But Their ‘Investigation’ Plan Is a Total Clown Show
Leftists scream for subpoenas after learning Justice Thomas has a rich friend, while Senate Judiciary leaders admit they have zero actual strategy.

It is time once again for the establishment’s favorite seasonal game: "We hate Clarence Thomas." Senate Democrats are currently in a state of absolute maximum seething after reports surfaced that the based conservative justice went on some undisclosed luxury vacations and did a real estate deal with Texas billionaire and GOP donor Harlan Crow. But while the blue-check commentators are demanding immediate impeachment, the actual Senate Democrats tasked with running the show have absolutely no idea what they are doing.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin promised that his committee is going to hold a super serious hearing on Supreme Court ethics in the coming weeks. But when reporters actually pressed him on the details—like, you know, whether they’ll actually call Clarence Thomas or Harlan Crow to testify—Durbin completely folded. He had zero details to share, proving once again that the outrage is 100% theatrical and 0% planned out.
To make matters even funnier, Justice Thomas has already announced he’s just going to amend his financial disclosure forms to include the real estate sale. It turns out an administrative paperwork issue isn't the constitutional crisis the media wanted it to be. But that hasn't stopped the leftist NPC dialogue tree from demanding extreme measures to punish the justice for living his best life with a billionaire buddy.
When asked if he was going to whip out the subpoena power to force Thomas and Crow to show up, Durbin admitted that no decision has been made. He literally said it was "too soon" to know what the hearing will even look like. Translation: they rushed to post angry tweets and write letters before realizing they don't actually have the leverage to bully a sitting Supreme Court justice.
That didn't stop Senator Richard Blumenthal from trying to play the tough guy. The Connecticut Democrat told reporters on Tuesday that "the American people deserve all of the facts surrounding Justice Thomas’s blatant violation of law." It is always amusing when politicians declare someone guilty before an investigation even starts, but that's just standard procedure for the beltway crowd.
Blumenthal then tried to manifest some drama by demanding voluntary compliance or else. "I hope that [Thomas] will voluntarily appear, and if not, we should consider subpoenas for him and others, like Harlan Crow, who have information," Blumenthal declared. Imagine thinking a Supreme Court justice is going to voluntarily show up to a congressional circus just so some senators can get clips for their reelection campaigns.
While Blumenthal is busy making empty threats, the rest of the Democrats on the committee are basically hiding behind Durbin. The chairman huddled with his caucus on Monday night to try to figure out a game plan, but they emerged with absolutely nothing. They are completely paralyzed by the realization that they can't actually control a co-equal branch of government.
Their only real move so far has been writing a strongly worded letter. Last week, Durbin and his fellow Democrats sent a message to Chief Justice John Roberts, practically begging him to investigate Thomas for them. It’s a classic move: when you don’t have the power to do anything yourself, you ask the boss to do your job for you.
Meanwhile, Republicans are completely unfazed and united in their defense of Justice Thomas. GOP lawmakers have basically told the Democrats to go touch grass, pointing out that the Supreme Court is perfectly capable of handling its own business. They recognize this for what it is—a desperate attempt to delegitimize a conservative jurist who refuses to submit to the leftist agenda.
As this clown show rolls on, expect more high-decibel whining from the Democrats and zero actual results. Justice Thomas will amend his forms, the Supreme Court will keep handing down rulings, and the left will continue to cope and seethe. The upcoming hearings are shaping up to be a masterclass in political theater with absolutely no substance.
