You knew they couldn't let us have nice things. Just days before the nation's absolute banger of a 250th birthday bash, the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool has turned into a literal green swamp, and the political establishment is doing everything it can to cover up what looks like a classic case of late-night sabotage. President Trump spent $14.7 million of taxpayer money to drain the century-old, 2,028-foot eye-sore and coat it in a based custom color he dubbed “American flag blue.” But of course, the DC swamp couldn't handle that level of patriotism.

Naturally, as soon as the project was declared finished on June 6, everything went sideways. A massive green algae bloom took over, and chunks of the blue coating started peeling off, including a massive four-square-foot piece that was spotted floating like a dead jellyfish. Trump immediately went to Truth Social to call out the obvious, alleging that some midnight gremlins carved a massive “350-foot gash” into the pool’s lining. “It was purposefully and criminally done and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition,” Trump posted. He backed it up on Wednesday with a photo of the dry pool, posting: “This is the hard rubber surface – No Paint – Before the Vandals cut and pulled it apart!”

Trump promised that the Department of the Interior is going to drop the receipts with photo and video evidence of the sabotage, but the deep-state bureaucrats are dragging their feet. Meanwhile, the New York Times claims they got their hands on “government documents” that magically show no evidence of vandalism. Because we all know government paperwork never lies, right? While we wait for the security footage to drop, the police have already been busting people in the area, including one guy near the pool who is currently fighting an obscenity charge.

Predictably, the Democrats are using this to grandstand. Senator Richard Blumenthal fired off a dramatic letter to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and NPS Acting Director Jessica Bowron, crying about “blatant corruption,” a “shocking lack of transparency,” and “apparent incompetence.” It's the standard political playbook: ignore the potential saboteurs and blame the guy who actually tried to clean up the Mall.

To make matters even more hilarious, the left-wing eco-warriors are having an absolute meltdown. A dead duckling was found in the pool, and two other dead birds were found 250 feet away. The Center for Biological Diversity immediately started shrieking about the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, with campaigner Tara Zuardo calling the pool a “giant duck death trap” and calling the project “cruel, stupid and selfish.”
