These are the same governments that promised us Brexit would be a walk in the park and that lockdowns would flatten the curve. I trust my cat more than I trust politicians.

And then there's Catherine Weller from Fauna & Flora, moaning about how local communities are 'nature's greatest champions.' Oh, really? Last time I checked, they were busy chopping down rainforests for palm oil plantations and poaching endangered species for aphrodisiacs. But sure, let's throw more money at them.

The Darwin Initiative started back in 1992, when John Major, bless his heart, decided to play Captain Planet at the Rio Earth Summit. Now, decades later, we're finally realizing that throwing money at problems doesn't actually solve them. Who knew?
