Clown World Peak: EU Invites Taliban to Brussels to Fix Their Self-Inflicted Migrant Crisis
The same Eurocrats who spent years lecturing everyone on gender equality are now rolling out the red carpet for the ultimate patriarchy to bail them out on border control.

Welcome to peak Clown World, where the absolute state of the European Union has reached a level of irony that would make even the most seasoned satirists weep. After years of relentless lecturing about progressive virtues, the high-ranking Eurocrats in Brussels have officially rolled out the red carpet for the Taliban. Yes, you read that right. The Belgian Foreign Ministry lovingly hand-crafted five single-day visas to host a delegation from the ultimate patriarchy right in the heart of the EU. It turns out that when your self-inflicted mass migration crisis starts blowing up in your face, all those beautiful progressive values go straight into the trash.
According to the Taliban's own hype-man, foreign ministry spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the agenda for Tuesday’s little get-together in Brussels was all about cozying up. They sat down to discuss "trust-building measures," restarting consular services, and establishing a cozy Taliban diplomatic presence right inside the EU. The visual of career Brussels bureaucrats doing "trust-building" exercises with a regime that literally banned women from speaking or showing their faces in public back in 2024 is the kind of dark comedy you just can't make up.
But wait, the cope gets even better. Why is the EU suddenly willing to play nice with the guys they’ve spent years condemning? It’s simple: they need the Taliban to bail them out. The European Commission quietly confessed that they’ve been slide-whispering in the Taliban's DMs since January, desperately trying to figure out how to scale up deportations of Afghan migrants. After years of open-border posturing, the reality of public anger has finally hit the fan, and now the EU is begging the de facto rulers of Kabul to take their citizens back.
This entire operation was cooked up behind the scenes with Sweden, after 20 EU member states basically had a panic attack and demanded actual, real-world pathways to deport undocumented migrants and "security threats." Of course, the official Commission spokesperson had to put on their best serious face and explain that these talks are totally, definitely only about returning people who "pose a security threat." Because nothing says "we have everything under control" like negotiating security protocols with a group that has two top leaders wanted by the International Criminal Court for actual crimes against humanity.
The absolute meltdown this has caused in the European Parliament is a sight to behold. On one side, you have the career executive bureaucrats doing what they always do—whatever is convenient to keep their cushy jobs. On the other side, you have the progressive MEPs screaming into the void, completely appalled that their beloved European Union would dare to display such a massive, blinding double standard.
