Clown Weather 2026: Europe and Hong Kong Get Absolutely Wrecked by Storms, While France Melts in the Wrong Places
From golf-ball hail ripping up roofs in Slovenia to Hong Kong pulling consecutive 'black warnings,' nature is officially doing the most.

Well, it looks like the weather has officially entered main character mode. In mid-June 2026, a series of wild meteorological vibe checks left portions of Europe and East Asia absolutely reeling. We have got severe storms ripping through the Balkans, Hong Kong turning into a real-life water park, and France experiencing a heatwave that apparently forgot how maps work. If you thought the weather patterns were going to play nice, this week was a major reality check.
It all kicked off in the Balkans on June 10, when some seriously unstable hot air parked over the Adriatic Sea met a cold front coming from the northwest. The resulting clash was a complete disaster. The Slovenian Environment Agency clocked wind gusts of 65 mph at the Ljubljana airport. To make matters wetter, the town of Kranj got dumped on with 23mm of rain in short order.
But the real chaos occurred as the front pushed south-east towards Croatia. Along with the torrential downpour, the sky decided to throw actual golf-ball-sized hail at the ground. In the Komenda municipality, the local fire department had to deal with damage to more than 100 buildings. Violent winds literally scalped several homes, leaving them roofless. Just a casual day in the European countryside.
The storm did not stop there, either. It decided to take a road trip, crossing into Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the early hours of June 11, before finally making its way down to Greece on June 12. No word on whether Greece was ready for the absolute mess heading their way, but the entire Balkan corridor definitely caught a massive L.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, Hong Kong was busy drowning. The Hong Kong Observatory had to pull the trigger on a black rainstorm warning on Thursday. For those not fluent in Hong Kong's emergency protocols, a black warning means outdoor workers are told to take immediate shelter and schools are shut down because the streets have basically become rivers.
We are talking about hourly rainfall totals bursting past 70mm. And here is the kicker: this came just ten days after the region got hit by its first black warning on June 8. Widespread flooding was inevitable. To add a little extra spice to the mix, wind speeds hit a cool 50 mph in the district of Tai O. It is safe to say Hong Kong was completely drenched.
Over in Western Europe, France is currently experiencing an absolute scorcher. Temperatures are sitting comfortably in the mid-to-high 30s degrees Celsius, with meteorologists forecasting a peak of 41C. But the funniest part of this heatwave is where it is actually happening. It is completely off-script.
