Another One? Dems Trotting Out Generic Brand Dem to Oust Collins
Platner enters the arena, but will his woke platitudes actually dethrone the OG Mainer?
So, another election cycle, another Democrat challenger emerges from the primordial soup to try and take down Susan Collins. This time it's some dude named Platner. The narrative is already being pre-loaded: 'establishment' this, 'grassroots' that. But let's be real, this is the same old song and dance.
Collins, love her or hate her, is a Maine institution. She's been around the block more times than a pizza delivery guy in Brooklyn. She knows how to play the game. Platner? He's got the resume of a guy who peaks in high school debate club. We're supposed to believe he's going to magically unseat a seasoned senator? Okay, Zoomer.
The DNC's playbook is predictable. They'll paint Collins as some kind of corporate overlord, out of touch with the common Mainer. They'll trot out talking points about income inequality and climate change, hoping to scare soccer moms into voting blue. Meanwhile, Platner will be posting carefully curated selfies on Instagram, trying to look relatable while sipping his artisanal latte.
Here's the truth: Maine is a weird state. They like their politicians quirky and independent. Collins has managed to walk that tightrope for years. Platner needs to figure out how to do that, and fast. Otherwise, he's just another footnote in the history of failed Democratic challengers. Maybe he'll get a CNN contributor gig out of it. But don't hold your breath for a Senate seat. This is gonna be a long and painful campaign season. Grab some popcorn and prepare for the cringe.
Collins' seat might be gone soon, she's not the youngest anymore. The Left will keep coming, so strap in, and get ready for more battles over Maine. They never learn.
