Another Car Bomb in Pakistan? Guess 'Nation Building' is Still a Thing
Bannu checkpoint blast reminds us that some places are just allergic to peace and democracy.

BANNU, Pakistan – So, another car bomb went boom in Pakistan. This time it was a police checkpoint in Bannu getting the 'splodey treatment. Over a dozen dead. Yikes.
Remember when we were gonna turn Afghanistan and Pakistan into, like, Switzerland? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Turns out, some places are just hardwired for chaos. Who knew?
Bannu, apparently, is one of those places. Right on the ol' 'stan border, basically a magnet for dudes who think blowing things up is a legit career path. No surprise there, really.
The usual suspects are probably involved – Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, maybe some al-Qaeda wannabes. Hard to say for sure. They all kinda blend together after a while, like a terrorist smoothie.
Of course, the 'experts' will tell you this is all about 'socio-economic factors' and 'lack of opportunity.' Yeah, maybe. Or maybe some people just really, REALLY want to live in a medieval theocracy. Occam's Razor, people.
What's the solution? More foreign aid? Please. We've been throwing money at this problem for decades, and all we've got to show for it is more car bombs. Maybe it's time to accept that some problems just don't have solutions. Some places are just destined to be a dumpster fire.
At least the Pakistani government is condemning the attack. That'll show 'em! Condemnations are like kryptonite to terrorists. Seriously, though, what else are they gonna do? They're stuck dealing with this mess, and we're stuck watching from afar, shaking our heads and muttering about the futility of it all.
Meanwhile, back in America, we're worried about pronouns and microaggressions. Talk about priorities! Maybe we should spend less time navel-gazing and more time figuring out how to protect ourselves from the real threats in the world.
But hey, who am I kidding? We'll just keep virtue signaling and pretending that 'diversity is our strength' while the world burns around us. Good luck with that.
So, yeah, car bomb in Pakistan. Shocker. Don't expect things to get better anytime soon. The only thing that's certain is that more people will die, and the 'experts' will keep spouting the same tired platitudes. Circle of life, I guess. Except the circle is on fire.
And for all the hand-wringing about human rights and whatnot, let's be honest: sometimes, you just gotta nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. (Just kidding... mostly.)
Anyway, stay safe out there, folks. The world is a scary place, and it's only getting scarier.
